Hello.

My husband is going to HiIllsboro Aviation, so we just came over some weeks ago from Norway. We have 2 little girls, a 4 year old and a 2 year old.

I am wondering if any of you have any good tips on what we can do during the day, any good parks, playgrounds etc?

We have been to the park by the public library, but are looking for other things to do as well since I will be a stay at home mom for some time.

Any mom groups near Orenco Station?

Thanks.

What can I do next?

We also live in Hillsboro and like the following (I have a 2.5 year old and a 10 month old):

* Rood bridge Park
* Tualatin Hills Nature Center - lots of trails
* the park by Whole Foods off of Cornell Rd.
* the toddler play gym (sign up through Hillsboro Parks and Rec)
* Munchkin Playland - only if your girls are less than 42" tall (they have a strict height requirement)
* the zoo - membership is worth it!
* OMSI science playground
* Out of the World is alright but better for older kids in my opinion
* the park by the Shute Park branch of the library
* Hillsboro Parks and Rec has a list of classes you can sign the kids up for if you go to their website

We have an attachment parenting mom's group in central Beaverton. You can get there on the Max if you don't have a car. However, it's in the evenings so I don't know if you'd want to travel on the train with two young kids.. Do you have a car? Feel free to send me a private message if you're interested. We focus on breast feeding, co sleeping and other natural parenting philosophies. It's Tuesday night at 5:30. :)

I work over in the Orenco neighborhood (at Regal Aviation) and have two girls (5 and 16 months).

We LOVE Rood Bridge park, lots of trails and large playground.
Griffin Oaks is nearby also and they offer lots of community classes for the kids. It is just on the other side of the airport.

A quick list of fun places:
*Children's Museum
*Zoo
*Out of This World Pizza & Play
*Aquatic Center

Not sure of specific moms groups because I just went back to work full time in the office, but you can probably connect with some other moms from Craigslist maybe.

I have a 3 year old and we are always looking for things to do. I live in the Tanausborne area but my zip code is from Beaverton.
- For bike/skate rides or just walk, there is a beautiful park : Dawson Creek Corporate Park off shute Rd, we love to visit it.
- My favorite partly covered playground is at the Howard Terpenning Recreation Complex in Beaverton (walker and 158th) about 15 minutes east from Orenco Station
- The membership at the ZOO is totally worth it... we go non-stop from April to November.
- We love to hike also at Washington Park (by the zoo).. there is also a huge playground behind the zoo next to the Rose Garden.
- There are some private business that offer some recreation for small kids: My daughter loves "Pump it Up" on cornell Rd. I have heard some friends talking about Munchkin Playland in Bethany but I haven't been there.

To keep busy my 3 year old, the best thing has been to enroll at some of the classes at the Tualatin Hills recreation district.. you can use their pools at the aquatic centers. But I think you have to live in Beaverton/Aloha/Bethany to be in-district. I guess Hillsboro must have something similar, if not check this website, they have rates for out-of district residents: http://www.thprd.org/
