Hi. I would really love to find a non-chlorinated pool in Portland for swim lessons for my baby. If none are available, I may be able to find a private one. Are there any other Mama's out there who would also like a non-chlorinated pool for swim lessons for your baby?

What can I do next?

We have had a very similar issue. There is a saline pool at the 24 hour fitness in the hollywood area but they do not have lessons. My husband really wanted to start swim class and i conceded! he takes our son to a great class at the montavilla swim center (i think) which is ridiculously chlorinated. I'm combating the chlorine by giving our son kelp powder and nori sheets as finger food. The iodine helps displace chlorine from the body. (i'm also an ND:) i also have him wash him with baby shampoo right after class (the only time we have used soap). good luck! the swimming is lots of fun!

Tualatin Hills Parks & Rec has instituted an ultraviolet filter in some of its pools, as others alluded to here. I don't know if that completely eliminates use of chlorine, but you could call to ask them.

I would love to find one. Both my baby and I have sensitive skin and I get infections from Chlorine. I have been searching for months now. the best I have found is partially chlorinated, partially something else.

Sunset Athletic Club on NW Cornell Road in Beaverton has an aquatic center with several saline pools. They have a heated therapy pool, a general swimming pool, a lap pool with really cold water and 3 wide lanes, and they have lots of classes available. They have water aerobics, group and private swimming lessons, and swim conditioning and swim team. There is a saline hot tub, a steam room, and a sauna all in the aquatic center as well. However, the outdoor pool that is open in the summer is chlorine treated, as is the jacuzzi in the locker room. (Yes, there is a sauna and jacuzzi in both locker rooms.) Not as cheap as any of the Parks & Rec pools, but probably worth it if you are looking for this specific kind of pool. It requires a monthly membership with something like a $400.00 application fee and then over $100 a month membership for a family, plus annual towel fees. So if you swim every day or would use the other facilities, it is worth the $$$.

I believe the Tualatin Hills Aquatic Center has recently converted to a non-chlorine pool.

Just a correction to some of the posts - the pools at Le Petit Dauphin do have chlorine, although they use salt-water. I am sure you learned this as well if you called. I unfortunately have no suggestions. My daughter has been taking swim lessons since she was 7 months at Children of the Sea, which is clorinated, but an exceptional, small facility. I decided that I would go ahead with a chlorinated pool given the frequency of swimming (lots) combined with the potential health risks of a polluted pool (due to lack of chlorine and presence of babies and young kids). We have not experienced any issues due to the chlorination.
