With a new baby on the way I have been dealing with regressive behaviors (temper tantrums) and would like to hear from other parents, that have successfully dealt with this common problem, about techniques they used to help children in the home invite the new addition to the family and create a positive experience.

What can I do next?

Hi I'm looking to meet other mom's on Fridays with my 3 1/2 yr old son. In Campbell at Jackfischer park. I don't know if you have already joined a mom's play group but would love to meet up on Fridays.

Las Madres is a great way to meet other moms with kids the same age. You could also try going to your local library and see what children's programs they have. Usually they are in the morning and you may need to sign up for them in advance.

One other place is through an active church... You are in dt San Jose which I'm not that familiar with... but I think there is a church called 'The church on the hill'. i have heard lots of positive things about it. You may find that there are good playgroups that meet there too.

I started a moms group at our church, St Mark Lutheran in Sunnyvale... you don't need to attend church to be part of the group, you simply need to be a parent with a child! You are welcome to come, it would be nice to meet you and your daughter!... we meet on Wednesdays from 3 to 5. We have children that age from 18 months to 9 years old.

I hope you find a group that works for you.

Hi! I have a 4 1/2 year old son and we also live near downtown SJ (Cahill Park). We are part of Las Madres Working Moms 2003 playgroup (www.lasmadres.org). This is a great way to meet other working moms with 4 year olde and for your daughter to meet the kids too!

This worked for me a dozen years ago, when I was searching for a local playgroup: When I was at the local grocery store with my child, I'd keep my eye out for other mothers with kids my child's age. Then I'd approach them and say "Excuse me, but I am looking for a local playgroup. Do you know of one with any openings?"

One woman invited me to visit hers, which met at various parks in fair weather. That lead to a play group that met for over 10 years (till the tweens and teens got "too cool" for it), and friendships that still endure.
