Hello Mamas,

I am searching for a new babysitter/nanny. I was wondering if you knew of any websites that I could find a questionaire that I could let the potential person fill out. What kind of questions have you asked? Do you draw up a contract? I have been using a family friend for the longest time so I am not sure of how I should go about doing the interview process. Any advice would be great. I just want to make sure that I am paying them enough and getting the best care for my kids. Thanks!

The hours would be Monday and Wednesday from 5:30 am- 5:15pm. I am in the process of looking for someone to come to my home, but not sure how that will turn out yet.

What can I do next?

We had great luck with nannies4hire.com They ask you the questions, you look for potential candidates (and they look at you), they have sample contracts, and you get background checks for free! I hope this helps, and good luck!

Several years ago I worked for a local sitting service called Caring Hands. They are a Christian based service and are VERY thorough in their hiring process. All their sitters must have references, background checks, CPR and First Aid training, and have a personal sit-down interview with the owner. They were awesome to work for. They do short and long term nanny jobs (look under the "be a caregiver" option). You might check them out.

My friend had great luck with momsbestfriend.com. You do have to pay for the service, but she's had great luck with her nanny and it also finds babysitters for the night out. What ever you do have a contract. I would google questionnaires and contracts for nanny, I'm sure you will find some samples.

We have had good luck with care.com. you have to pay for the service, but the caregivers tellyou about their experience, hours they are available, whether or not they will come to your home and background checks are included. The caregivers even list the payrange they are looking for.

If this person will be full time I would call around to find out what the going rate for child care is in your area. I would definitely have a contract.
