You might do better if you posted the info in your title - "need pediatric neurologist in Torrance CA area".

But nobody's going to have a "quick chat" - they're going to want an evaluation and a referral from the pediatrician. Have you started with the pedi? If you aren't satisfied, get another pediatrician to refer you.

Good luck. Seizures can be scary and they can be caused by a lot of different things so nothing's going to be learned from a brief discussion. Don't panic, but make the time to see someone.

You can't just have a chat. It could be anything, from a harmless blood flow issue to something more serious, like a brain tumor. They need to meet with you and your child, ask questions, get feedback, do brainwave tests, as well as x-rays. I have seizures at times and I went to a neurologist just last year, and that is what they did. I had to have my brainwaves analyzed over 24 hours, which required wearing a machine on my waist full of wires that were attached to my head for a full day, as well as having other tests done. As cliche as this may sound, don't wait, and don't look for the cheap, easy way out when it concerns your child's health. As Diane suggested, ask for a neurologist referral, or check online for reviews on neurologists that work in your area. I would also check for disciplinary action and recommendations from the American Neurological Association or American Academy of Neurology.

Hi Krab,

You should start with your child's pediatrician, if you haven't already. The pediatrician can do an initial evaluation and then offer recommendations and referrals.

We visited a neurologist in Santa Monica. Harriet T Cokely. ###-###-####. Not sure what insurance she accepts but she was fabulous with our then 6-year old. Definitely recommend a doctor appointment ASAP.
