Need Some Opioions on Anniversary

Ok to the point. My husband and have gone every other year for anniversaries. This year is my turn...last year he took me to Washington Island where we spent the night on the island..it was great. We toured the island and hiked all around the island and learned the history...beautiful. Now, I need ideas to top that! It is in September so weather must be kept in mind and also nothing too expensive. Help?

What can I do next?

We do the same thing for our Sept anniversary & its also my year. I just started to think about it yesterday! In the past I've planned a trip to Chicago on the train with dinner & a play, Lake Geneva has an awesome resort, where we had dinner and a couples massage and a breakfast cruise along the lake, other places we've been are Manitowoc, Door County, Spring Green, The Dells & Prairie Du Chien. Hope you find something fun!!

My husband and I just celebrated out first anniversary last weekend. We got one of those picnic backpacks (a nice one) for a wedding present, and we used it for the first time. We went to a beautiful small lake outside of Madison, Indian Lake. We were able to take our dogs, enjoy a delicious picnic lunch of bread, meats, cheese, wine, avocado, tomato, cherries, and some pre made salads from Whole Foods. It was delicious and romantic, and really a great day. Also inexpensive! You could pair it with a B&B if you wanted an overnight.

does he like chicago? take the train down and maybe go to navy pier or water tower place!!! chicago is a blast to walk around and sight see!!!

Life is really nice in Bayfield in September. The tourists are not everywhere and lodging is cheaper. Take him on a ferry ride and hike on the Apostle Islands. It will be a bit chilly, which is nice for closeness.

I lived in Chicago for 5 years and think that's a great idea, but it can be kind of pricey. If you wanted to stay a little closer to home the fall colors on the North Shore might be nice. They could be early this year with the cool, dry summer. Grand Marais has some wonderful restaurants. Have fun.

I agree that Bayfield, WI is a great place to visit. The Apostle Islands are beautiful. Although we didn't get a chance to hike on them, we did do the ferry ride. There are several nice B&Bs there and several nice restaurants.

We also like to go to Lanesboro, MN. It is about an hour south of Rochester. It is a small historical town with lots of B&Bs and good restaurants. There is an amazing bike trail and you can rent bikes in town. The fishing is really good. If the weather is still warm you can tube on the Root River or rent canoes. There is also a local theatre that is one of the best in the Midwest. They usually have 3-4 different shows each year. You are also very close to Amish country and several other attractions within a short drive of Lanesboro. http://www.lanesboro.com

Do you and your husband enjoy beer? Yes, Wisconsin is a beer state and there are literally hundreds of breweries all around the state. My husband and I started a few years back and try to go to one every year and have a great time. So far, we've gone to Chippewa Falls (Leinenkugels), New Glarus, Monroe. There is also one in Madison and of course Miller in Milwaukee. You could also go to the Wollersheim winery too. Have fun!
