My hubby and I are considering taking a couple nights away for our 5th anniversary. We heard Bayfield was nice. We are thinking about a bed and breakfast or something similar, but it looks like the best ones are already booked in August. Does anyone have any recommendations of places to stay or things to do? thanks!

What can I do next?

We went to a show at Big Top Chautauqua. They have a wide variety of concerts/shows every year. We also took a cruise of the Apostle Islands and lighthouses. Madeline Island is fun to spend time on. Take a look at this web site: http://www.bayfieldcounty.org/ They have a visitors guide that you can download. Depending on when you go ther may be a festival going on. It's a beautiful place.

They have rooms and cottages right on the lake. Beautiful place to stay!
Lots to do in Bayfield including shopping, kayaking, or you could take the ferry over to Madeline Island.
Hope this helps!

Bayfield is quaint and nice for a weekend away. Take the ferry over to Madeline Island where you can rent scooters, hike and explore the island. If you're looking for a great nice restaurant to celebrate check out Wild Rice

As far as places to stay, it is tough to find places to stay in the area over the summer months. I check into it. Or email Tom at the above email address and he may have suggestions.

Have a great trip!

If you are into kayaking definitely go to the sea cave off of Meyer's beach. There is also a hkign trail yu can take to view them. Check it out at www.superiortrails.com/apostle-islandspark.html

The website also has several links to things to do in & around Bayfield

Definitely take the ferry out to Madeline Island. If you like to camp you can also stay on several of the islands.

Just as an FYI...Bayfield has a HUGE apple festival, so depending on when in August you're planning to go, that may well be why they're booked full. It might be into September that the festival is, but you may want to look into it and determine whether you want to go when Bayfield is jam packed with tourists. Happy Anniversary!

My husband and I enjoyed a stay at the Lowell Inn in Stillwater for an anniversary. He surprised me with one of the "honeymoon" suites with a jacuzzi tub. The furnishings are all antiques and the inn is beautiful. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was wonderful. The Lowell Inn is just a couple blocks from the river. If you and your husband enjoy wine, Stillwater would be a great centralized location for touring wineries in the area.
