Hi Moms!!! We are considering relocating to the Greenville area in the near future. I really don't know much about the area and could really use your help. I am loooking for honest opinions on the area, especially from those who have relocated from another state. We have 2 children ages 8 and 5 so I am looking for a great place to raise our children as well as great schools. Thank you Moms!!!

C., I would definitely recommend the Greenville area to relocate to. We moved here 3 years ago from Massachusetts, and haven't regretted it. We also have 2 kids, 7 and 4 years old. The cost of living is good, the weather is good, and it's very family friendly. I run a welcome service in Simpsonville, just outside Greenville, and I welcome newcomers here every day from all over the country. The best thing to do is to come check it out for yourself, if at all possible, and see if it feels like a good fit for your family. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask away.
Good luck,
K.

C., I read your post and the ones from those who have moved to the Greenville area from other states. As a true native of the upstate of South Carolina it gives me great pleasure to see such positive reviews of our area. At times it can be easy to overlook the beauty of the area, the cultural opportunities here, and even the great educational opportunities of our area when you have lived here all your life. However, I strive each day to give thanks for the many things available here in the upstate that make my quality of life so wonderful. We have great healthcare facilities here (including a university-afilliated teaching hospital), excellent higher education (USC Upstate, Clemson University, Webster University, Bob Jones University, Greenville Tech and my own alma mater - Furman University), entertainment galore (Bi-Lo Center, Peace Center for the Performing Arts, Greenville Little Theatre, Children's Theater, etc.) as well as historic and recreational places to visit (Lake Hartwell, Paris Mtn State Park, Table Rock, Caesar's Head, Fall's Park in downtown Greenville, Cleveland Park & Greenville Zoo). If all of this is not enough to make you want to move here today, we also have some of the nation's cleanest drinking water AND should your tummy get upset, you can find plenty of Pepto-Bismol here since we manufacture this pink cure-all here in Greenville! I had to throw that one in because the pink color reminds me of breast cancer awareness month being in October, so don't forget your mammogram! Take care and good luck with your decision on whether or not to move to the Greenville area. I believe if you choose to move here you will truly enjoy its breath-taking beauty and the kindness of those who live here.

Hi C.,
I was in your exact position one year ago! We had the opportunity to move here but I had never been and my hubby had only been here once. I did research online like you are doing now and was impressed with what I heard. Obviously we made the move! We've been here one year now and LOVE it! We've moved quite a bit in the South the last few years and I have to say, Greenville is exactly what we were looking for.

We have a two year old and find it to be the most family-friendly town we have ever lived. We are living in the downtown area...we love the parks, downtown market & shopping and hear the schools our son will go to are great (including a magnet school for Elementary).

If you'd like more info, feel free to email me offline!

Good luck!
S.

Hi C.!
We relocated here 6 years ago from Michigan and absolutely love it. Now that I live here, I can't imagine living anywhere else. It is such a great place to raise a family. The size of the city is perfect, not too big and not too small. Greenville also offers a lot of perks you would only find in bigger cities like the Peace Center. Honestly if you haven't been here, come. The city will sell itself to you. My family lives in Simpsonville which neighbors Greenville and we really enjoy it. Best of luck with your decision. I know it is a big one.
