Hi Moms,
I just had our third son on May 22nd and I'm really struggling to lose the weight. I gained a lot of weight with all 3 of my boys...about 60lbs with each!!! I currently have 35 lbs left to lose but I'm having a really difficult time. I am currently nursing. I know it gets tougher after each child, but I'm really struggling with this one mentally. I'm feeling quite self conscious and not "sexy." I did weight watchers with success after my two older boys, but I'm trying to save money as I'm no longer working and my husband had to take a pay cut last year.

Do you have any suggestions that are low cost and effective? How did you lose your pregnancy weight?

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Hi L.,

I have a suggestion. I know you are looking for low cost but I am not sure how low cost. Baby Boot Camp offers prenatal and postpartum classes for moms where you can bring your baby with you to class. This eliminates the need to find a babysitter or leave your child in a daycare at the gym. The class is for moms so it focuses on their trouble spots and what they need. Classes are as low as $55/month for unlimited classes depending on what you commit to. It is a great way to meet other moms, lose the baby weight and spend time with your baby. At some locations you can even bring your older children. If you can't find these classes in your area there are other programs that are similar. I don't know what their cost is however. My advice is to watch what you eat but don't cut back too drastically. I am a trainer and I do not believe in dieting. It is a vicious cycle. Eat regularly and eat foods that are good for you. And get some exercise whenever you can. Exercise and eating right work together. You will not lose weight and keep it off without both in most cases. Good luck!

L.,
boy do I know how you feel. I was always fit, always worked out.
Then, I was on infertility drugs for a year, gained weight there, then had twins! I was huge.
I am struggling with losing 20 lbs b/c I am too tired to work out and snack a lot.
ok, here is what you have to do. My husband has been a personal trainer for 15 years and has trained professional athletes, etc.

What it boils down to is you have to lift weights at least 3 days a week and must do cardio as well. Your diet is 80 percent of the formula. Just watch your carbs and calories. My friend who was a nutritionist printed out a plan for a woman working out at least 3-5 days a week.
sample: plain oatmeal (cup dry) for bfast with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and a tiny bit of maple brown sugar for flavor. Sounds gross, but is delicious.
fruit for snack or rice cake with peanut butter.
lunch- tuna or chix on honey wheat english muffin (has less calories than most breads)
fruit or celery and carrots for snack
protein and veggies for dinner
you could have 150 cal of ice cream

so if you really want to lose weight you have to work out and eat correctly. That is really all there is to it. But you can't eliminate any of the three. Must combine weights, cardio, and good diet.

I know what to do, but have a hard time starting. I think that is worse...lol

Good luck.

Hi L.,
I am in the same boat as you are. My son was born on 4/5/07 and I am struggling as well. On two other occasions I lost weight using the Weight Watchers online program. It is so much cheaper than doing the meetings but it still helps you be accountable since you have to log all of your point intake. I would highly recommend that, and you already know the program works for you!

I'd love to have a buddy to get back on WW with, maybe we could chat. Email me back if you are interested. My son's name is Wyatt. My daughter is 15!

hi L....
first of all-congratulations on your newborn boy! God bless you, you must have your hands full!!
www.gofigure8.com is a very good resource. i am a consultant for arbonne. actually, today is my 2nd day working from home-i was able to quit my full time job:)
anyway, i know a lot of people who have lost weight with these products, and the support of the website. i don't have any idea how they compare in price to anything else, but i do know they taste good:)
hopefully you will find the right way to lose for you.
in the meantime, eat healthy, continue nursing, and walk when you can.
let me know if there's anything i can do to help.
