Dear Mamas,

I am looking for a healthier way then taking pain killers to help my knee pain I have. I was recommend to get knee surgery but two Dr.'s and other Dr.'s have told me to take Ibuprofen 800 mg plus another two pain killers for the pain. But now I have 3 lil kids and I am in no way going to be on pain killers and don't want the knee surgery since it will not last forever from what I am told it's maybe good for 10 years but since I am still pretty young they don't think it's too good. Hope this is making sense?
So I am looking for acupuncture or chiropractic or anything else that I can do or go too to make me able to keep up with my 4,2, and newborn. I love to go out to places but now I wake up with my knee swell up and it's really hard to run after my kids if I take them to places and I feel too overwhelm! I looking for a Alternative & Holistic Medicines in the Pasadena, Arcadia, Temple City, Monrovia area that isn't too $$$ cause I would have to go often since I have flare ups. Or if you know of anything (I can buy @ Whole Foods) that I can take while breastfeeding please let me know! I would love to hear from you!

Tired of pain and hating all pills Kaiser has to give!

What can I do next?

Thank you everyone so so much! I will look next week to make a appt and see what the outcome is in a couple of weeks! I'm planning in taking my kids to swimming lesson soon so I am also hoping that will help me out too. I am very grateful to have Internal Mommy Buddies!

Thank you again & God bless you all!

If you are not already taking Glucosmine Sulfate, I would highly recommend it. It should be okay with breastfeeding but you could double check with your doctor or put in a search online. I had terrible knee problems for years and even quit running. My knees worsened and I even had to use a cane during my 5th pregnancy. After my last child was born, I went to an orthopedist and then to physical therapy to strenghen the muscles that support the knees. A year later, I ran my first marathon but still had knee problems. My cousin, an RN gave me a bottle of glucosomine. It has been like a miracle for me! I've been using it for about 7 years. I seldom have any knee problems now. You may also find that just putting some doctor Scholl's inserts in your shoes will help too.
If you don't mind going to Glendale to see a chiropractor, I'd be happy to give you my chiropractor's number. Her pricse are very reasonable, she's down to earth, and she truly cares about her patients. She may be able to do some ultrasound on your knee. Email me if you want her information.

It is in Santa Monica. It is called Lotus East West Medical Center. Their number is ###-###-####. It may be a little far for you, but they are really very good at what they do.

Good Luck!

I know of a great Chiropractor that can help you, without a doubt. His name is Dr.Michael Pangelinan at Universal City Medical/Wellness Group. They practice alternative/holistic medicine, are against drugs, and can treat you and give recommendations on healthier supplements/vitamins. Their office is not that far from Pasadena (off the 134 FWY). The address is 3535 Cahuenga Blvd West, Suite 208, Los Angeles, CA 90068. Their phone number is ###-###-####. I highly recommend them. Good luck.
