Need Eye Doctor / No Money

Hello to all you wonderful ladies. Due to a lay off we now have no insurance, and very very little $$$. My daughter's contact perscription has exspired and she has been wearing her last set of contacts about 2 weeks too long. I need to get her in to see a doctor but can't afford it. I'm in process of getting govt help, but am waiting for answers. Does anyone know a doctor who would be willing to work with us on this? My son also needs a filling. Know a dentist that could work with us? Thanks for all your help, you ladies rock!

What can I do next?

Have you tried to get the children on medicaid - there is a great clinic in Plano by the Baptist Church and they only taked medicaid (by the way my granddaughter was on it for two years and the medical care she received was GREAT) they might be able to give you a referral.

Also I currently have no insurance as COBRA was way too expensive but I have purchased a very affordable membership to Ameriplan (which covers my whole household) nd have saved lots on prescriptions and dental care. Spending much less than I would have on insurance and deductibles.

Dr. Mark Taroyan in Plano at Omni Eye Care Center gives me a break on price because I don't have insurance. They are always very friendly. You might want to give them a call.

Hi C.,

I know the feeling of no money. I go to Walmart for my eyes. The cost is usually around $90.00 (check with the stores), and they will test several contacts on me, as well as sell me contacts at a very resonable price.

As for Dentist, just call a few in the area (reputabl ones) and see if they can work with you on a payment plan.

Good luck.

Contacts: I have been wearing disposable contacts for the last fifteen or so years. I only change into new ones if one tears. I use the fizz contact cleansers stuff and leave them in the cleansers over night. Every two-three years or so, I do get an eye exam and if my eyes have changed, I will get a new prescription. I have never had an eye doctor tell me I am damaging my eyes nor reprimanded me for being conservative. It is a money making thing for the eye doctors/contact lens makers. As far as an eye doctor, I would check with maybe your eye doctor first, explain the monetary situation, and inquire if he could direct you to someone else.

Might try Bridgeman Dental Clinic in East Plano. At one time, they did missionary work. There again, you might check with your dentist to see if you can work out a payment plan.

Good luck with everything.

I offer very affordable vision and dental plans that can help you and your family. Please feel free to contact me direct for more details at ###-###-####. I am a licensed insurance agent.
