Having two babies has really done a number on my teeth (I remember them being just fine before the pregnancies). I'm wondering how you ladies afford dental care? Unfortunately my insurance covers nothing with dental. I don't have much money or credit cards but am in desperate need of some work done, I am in soooo much pain my whole mouth aches. Is there such a thing like a dentist accepting personal payment plans? Anyone know of a dental practice in Denver/Aurora, CO area that can help me? Thank you all so much for your time.

I agree, try Care Credit. First 6 months is interest free. I've used it at the dentist and the vet.
You might look into an individual dental plan. We get ours through Delta Dental (it's not their regular employer-provided plan; special HMO version for individuals and families). It's really inexpensive and helps with a lot of the costs. The downside is that there are a limited number of dentists in the plan. May be worth looking into, knowing you have major dental work ahead.

Look to see if you have a college in your area where dentists learn to be dentists. If you do, then you can sometimes let a student dentist do your dentistry for much much less or even free. The professors supervise them. The ideal situation is where you are getting a student doing a midterm or final grade while working on you.
Also I have read articles where people have gone to Mexico to have dental work done and surgeries done because it is so much cheaper.

Have you looked into buying dental insurance? It is not nearly as bad as regular insurance, and now that you have kids you need to be taking them to their 6 month check ups!

Do you have a dental college near-by? If so call and book an appt. If not, call and ask if they know of anything in your area.

I'm an insurance agent in AZ. You can get insurance now which will help you in the long run, but there is a 12 mo waiting perior for most major things such as root canals. Ask around to find a dentist that will allow you to make payments and if there is a Western Dental by you they will do anything needed, including braces, with no waiting period and they have payment plans. Dental proceedures are not cheap. My husband also sells Aflac which has a very reasonable dental plan that pays YOU, not the dentist, but also has a waiting period. Good luck!
Youll have to save....and handle the biggest things first, try rinsing with salt water, alot of your pain could be gum related.
I totally get where you are coming from, i came from a family with soft enamel and small teeth, i spent 15k on my teeth to make them look pretty, and we put 2k into my daughters teeth because of the soft enamel problem.
I dont have insurance either, of any kind, luckily teeth is all ive really had to worry about.
Most dentists will set you up with a payment plan but it seems that most will give you a better deal if you have already established a relationship with them. So, maybe if you can get a few cheaper things done and hopefully things that will remedy your pain, you could pay in full and then ask for an uninsured discount and payment plan on the higher cost care. You should look into dental insurance. Our whole family is covered for around $500 per year. We have to go to a particular dentist about 15 minutes away but we get free cleaning for each memeber every 6 months for each family member and huge discounts on everything else. Just the cleanings alone and the policy is pretty much paid for.
I shopped around until I found an affordable dental clinic. It's extremely cheap compared to going to in independant dentist. Dental clinics are like the fast food of dentists. I know it's not top of the line, but I have gotten good service and treatment at excellent prices. Some of the ones here are called Monarch, Apple, La Perla. Look in an economically depressed area of town. Look for a sign that says they take medicaid. Call ahead for the cash price for certain procedures, such as how much for emergency visit, exam and x-rays, how much drill and fill, what if I need an extraction? That will give you a starting place as you shop around.
Check into a dental school. My Mom and step-dad drive 3 hours for their appointments, but they pay a fraction of the cost and get really really great care.
Call some of the Universities in your area that are medical in nature. They should have a dental college. They often offer scholarships to get work done. I know that the one in OKC does this. My friend got root canals, fillings, extractions, etc...all done was cheaper that going to the regular dentist.
In Oklahoma I see posters all the time that say dental work can be free for pregnant women. I don't know if there is any kind of program like this in your state but it might be worth checking into it if you become pregnant.
