Recently my family went to the community pool and spent a day swimming and going in the spa...a few days later, my 5yr old girl has had to pee about every 20 min. We visited the doctor and he has found nothing wrong with her..this is troubling..has anyone experienced this with their kids??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all your advice, my daughter went through a series of tests and nothing was found to be wrong so..I went the holistic route and used a very simple homeopathic remedy and she is almost back to normal...Yeah!

If you do the cranberry juice make sure it's 100% juice. You have to read the labels carefully. If you get one that has high fructose corn syrup like the standard ocean spray cocktails then you will only make the situation worse.

YOu need to get her checked more...did the doctor do a urine test? I would check her again or take her to the ER.

Take care,

The fastest way to treat this is to give her cranberry juice and cranberry tablets. If it is a bladder infection or urinary tract infection, this should work quickly.

Good luck, L.

I would get her checked again, insist on a urine test, and blood work. Rest assured though, if it is a bladder infection or UTI she most likely did not get it thru the community pool. There are lots of ways to get them, but that is not one of the ways.

Dear R.,

I would have her checked out again. And if there wasn't a urine sample taken, I would definately insist on it. It sounds like a UTI to me.

Best to you!

Cranberry juice should clear it up. Otherwise take her to a different doctor to have her checked. Watch for burning and possible blood in the urine.

Did they take a urine sample? If she has a bladder or urinary tract infection (UTI) a lab can easily detect it in her urine. She may also be experiencing pain when she urinates and possibly a fever. A UTI requires treatment with antibiotics, cranberry pills can help prevent infections because it creates an environment that is unfavorable for bacteria growth. However, once the bacteria is in her urinary tract, she will require antibiotics. If left untreated, a UTI can become serious and have effects on the kidneys, particularly in young children.
