It sounds like UTI/urinary tract infection. She may need a cystogram later to find out her ureter and bladder.

At the moment, lots of water, juices is fine, cranberry juice is better. Make sure she drinks a glass of 100-200 ml of water after every urination.

Ask her not to hold, or the pain is worse. It does get very painful, so it's best you are there with her.

Don't let her take bath in the tub with lots of soap, it may cause irritation and make path for the infection.

And off course, seek a pediatrician/doctor, she may want to do a simple urine sampling for confirmation, and KIV antibiotics.

Burning while peeing usually means either a UTI or a yeast infection. Time for a trip to the ped.

Take her to the doctor right away. It sounds like a urinary tract infection and if you let it go, it will just get worse.
Make sure she is drinking plenty of water and clear fluids, cranberry juice helps, but if she has an infection, she needs to see a doctor. Don't wait.

Best wishes

Sounds like a UTI or urinary tract infection. They don't clear up by themselves and can get much worse if left untreated. Take her to the doctor right away.

Yeah - That's likely a UTI. Get her checked before it gets worse because after the burning and the constant peeing comes pain and blood and possibly fever.

BTW - Start getting preventative about UTIs right now:

Ditch the bubble bath or soaps with lots of dyes and perfumes
Cotton undies only and no undies as night.
Keep clean and dry (in other words, make sure she's wiping well)
Wipe back to front (in other words, don't let fecal matter near her bladder opening)
Increase her water intake and eliminate sugary beverages (that includes those phony "100% juice" drinks)
Monitor intake of spicy and citric/acidic foods
Consider switching toilet paper and laundry detergent brands to something natural and hypoallergenic.

That sounds like a urinary tract infection. You need to take her to the doctor right away. And it's wipe front to back, not back to front like somebody else said.

you may want to see her doctor. if she has a urinary tract infection, it will hurt her to pee, and so she will hold it until she cannot any longer. it doesn't hurt to have it checked out.

Hello G.

I think that you should call your doctor and have her checked for a possible urinary tract infection. The burning is a symptom of UTI and is easily remedied with an antibiotic.

Just went through the same situation. Your daughter most likely has a urinary track infection (as did mine). A quick trip to the doctor for a urine sample and a dose of antibotics will have her back to normal in a couple of days and feeling much better shortly after the first dose. Hope she feels better.

sounds like she has an urinary trask infection. If it hurts when she pees, pees more often or smells more than normal pee smells GO TO THE DOCTOR NOW. Bladder infections can get worse quickly and if left too long can progress into a kidney infection. She may need antibiodics. ALSO have her drink real cranberry juice (100% juice) .If she doesn't like it at first mix it half and half with gingerale, sprite or one like it and slowly decrease the soda in each drink. The cranberry works "good" on the bladder/ urinary track infection.

G., your daughter likely has a UTI (urinary tract infection) which causes burning and an ammonia type odor from urine concentration. It is easily treated with a round of antibiotics but you'll need to bring her to the doctor with an early morning urine specimin so it can be cultured for the correct antibiotic. UTI's are common in girls and easily treated, but they can be very uncomfortable and you want to address it before it becomes a bladder infection, which is more complicated. In the meantime have her drink lots of water and cranberry juice. The water dilutes the urine so it's not so dark and concentrated, and the cranberry juice helps sanitize the urinary tract. Good luck!
