My 4 Month Old Baby Boy Has Stinky Feet!!!!

My little boy has stinky feet! We bathe him twice a week and I wash just his feet just about every other day, but they always end up smelling like he has been wearing old tennis shoes!!! We have his 4 month check up next week so I am going to ask the doctor then, but was hoping to see if any of you have ever heard of a 4 month old with smelly feet?! ...he wears footed outfits all of the time, but he gets a fresh pair every day! Thanks for any help or ideas you might have!

What can I do next?

I would think to powder his feet before you put them in the outfits. I'm curious to see what your doctor says.

It is unusual at this age and reminds me of a hallmark sign of the constitutional homeopathic remedy Silica. Before using something stronger try going to a homeopathic doctor and see what they say perhaps they have a solution!
Also a good natural babypowder would work great too I would think. The calendula oil suggestion is just great! This is great for little scratches and cuts as well!

Congatulations on your baby, but when I was a young mother (16) I had bathed my kids every other day. My family said that was too much but my 5 kids were never hurt by it. Are you putting socks on him also?

Dr. Oz was on Oprah recently and his advice was to soak stinky feet in tea. I am sure you can find the details on Oprah.com.

My daughters feet reeked when she was a baby. My husband and I still joke about it. I never asked a doctor about it, but it may be interesting to hear a dr's response on that question!

It sounds like his feet tend to sweat more than normal (my 7 month old's feet and my feet do that too). I would try letting him go barefoot. The feet are very much like the hands and if it's warm enough in your house for his hands to be bare then it's warm enough for his feet to be bare as well. Most of the heat in the body escapes through the head, not through the feet so it's perfectly acceptable to let any baby past the first couple of weeks be barefooted.

"Infants' feet do not have to be protected from the cold nearly as much as some adults think. Babies need no more protection for their feet when crawling on a cold floor than they do for their hands. The reason most adults are concerned about exposing their babies' feet is because they are used to having their own feet always covered and protected, and are not accustomed to a little bit of exposure. Babies actually thrive on it."

I can personally attest to the fact that going barefoot doesn't bother either one of my daughters - they both went barefoot exclusively as infants except when going outside in cold weather. In fact, when I started going barefoot more often, my feet stopped their excessive sweating and seem to be much happier in general.

I love using those one-piece suits without the feet for my younger daughter. Now that she is crawling and moving about on hands and feet, she grips with her toes and plays with her feet, and her feet aren't stinky when they are left bare most of the time!

Best wishes!

i use calendula oil on my babies' stinky feet. It is natural without side effects, is healthy for any skin, and is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and non-drying. Works for us! you can get it at most health food stores, Radiance in Olympia, too. Also- if he can get away with not wearing the footies more often, that will help more than anything. Baby feet need air , too. Esp. in THIS climate!
