I"m looking for other moms in the Rossmoore/Los Alamitos area who have kids and would like to get together for play-dates. I have a 2 and 4 year old and want to get out of the house and do stuff with the kids. Does anyone know of where I can find a group or something. I think I've heard of yahoo groups but haven't tried.

What can I do next?

So glad you asked. Go to meetup.com and type in your zip code and type in the word mom or kids. You'll find mom's groups there. There is a group in Los Alamitos.
Good Luck!

I live in the area too. When my twins were little we went to "mommy and me" at the presbyterian church on Los Al blvd. every weds. It was a great place to meet other moms and their kids. Some of my daughter's best friends today are people we met at mommy and me 10 years ago. Other local churches offer great programs like that too. Also, try the public library on weds. afternoons during the summer. They have really fun kids programs with plays, music, magic.... I just happened to be there yesterday and the library was jammed with kids ages 2-6... Park and Rec has fun classes for little people too. You might want to see what the community center has to offer, or even some more structured play groups. Good luck.

There is a Long Beach Mothers group that does a lot of things around the area. You can find them on meetup.com.

There was and still might be a Rossmoor babysitting co-op. I used it until my youngest was about eight. You take turn babysitting and it was a great group of mothers. You might ask around at the parks if it is still going. There was also a great reading program at the library for preschoolers where they could listen to people read kid's books and learn to check them out. Also the Los Alamitos Recreation department had a lot of programs for kids. I don't know what they have now, but you could call and ask. Also several local churches run preschools where you can enroll them for just a few hours a week, if you need some down time kidfree. So start calling and chat up other moms at the parks. Rossmoor has such great parks.
Good luck.

Also, look up MOMS Club.....they have chapters everywhere! And most churches have MOPS groups. Search for both!
