There is a Gymboree Play & Music that has great classes broken down by age group. It's located on Bellflower Blvd. and Carson Street in LB. I had my daughter enrolled from 3 months old to the time she was 2. Then we started taking classes through the City of Long Beach Parks & Rec. We did a dance class that was great and a gymnastics class that was also fun. The age range is greater in these classes, but they were still great for child interaction. You can find the class listings on the City of Long Beach website.

Check out the Long Beach Parks & Recreation schedule. They have some great classes offered at various parks. I don't know your child's age but the "Creative Play" class at Stearns Park was great for my son. He was about 2 years old when we did it. I liked it because it was pretty loosely structured. There is also "Giggles& Wriggles" and various music classes! I'm sure you'll find something that suits you and your child. Good luck...

Also...Long Beach City College offers a "mommy & me" class. They have a wonderful child development center. Classes are inexpensive also...a good way to meet other moms!

hi C O. if los alamitos isn't too far, there is a FREEEE mommy and me at the Good Shepherd Church on Los Alamitos Blvd. it's on wednesdays from 9:30-11:00. there is a reading time and a sing-along time with you/your child. there is also a short snack time for the kids. then, the kids can go into the daycare room and the mommies meet for coffee and snacks and listen to a guest speaker or have discussions. it's very mellow and best of all, it's FREE!

i've been going for a couple months now.
