Hello. I was wondering if there was a play group for my 3 year old and 6 month old and me (but mostly for me!) in the Los Alamitos/Rossmoor area. I do go to a local Mommy and Me at the Good Shepherd Church on Los Alamitos Blvd but was interested in any other groups as well. If you are open to another mommy/kids, please let me know. Being at home is driving me coo-coo!

What can I do next?

Hi S.,

My name is H. and I live in Cypress, not too far from you. I used to have a www.meetup.com playgroup for Moms in the area, but it ended up being a lot of work, and not a lot of participation, so I quit doing it about a year ago. I also have 3 year old son, and 6 1/2 year old girl, too. I work almost full-time, but I would love to get together with you for playdates sometime!

Dear S., I have lived in Los alamitos since birth, 49 years. When my 17 year old was little i went to kids college at cypress college. It was a mommy and me gym class very fun and a music class with teacher Gary Greeno Super fun. The kids college there is very kid friendly. Also the Los Al youth center has great classes, and the summer swim classes fill up fast so you nedd to get in early. Welcome to Los Alamitos. I am alumni of Los Alamitos Elem school , Mcaulliffe middle school ( it used to be Pine junior high) and of course Los Alamitos high school. I love living here and wouldn't live any where else. any questions J.

Hi, S.! We have quite a bit in common. I'm in my 30's with two children, a four year old girl and a 3 year old girl. I am also a teacher in the Los Alamitos school district. I know of a couple of moms in your area who are in the same boat as you. I recommend joining the MOMS Club. I am membership vice president for the MOMS Club in my city. It is wonderful with many opportunities for both you and your children to get to know others. Go to www.momsclub.org for info on a club near you. I'd be happy to have a playdate at the park with you, as well!

Take care,
A.

Let them know that M. from Cypress MOMS Club sent you.

If you have any questions let me know.

Best of Luck,

Hi S.,

I recently joined and love a group of moms who meet every Thursdsay morning in Cypress. If you're feeling a little nuts with the 24-7 responsibility of being a stay-home mom, this might be the group for you.

We meet at Seacoast Grace Church (Christian) on Cerritos near Walker in Cypress. You don't have to be affiliated with the church to attend. People come from all over. Childcare is available for infants through 5-yr olds, and the children have a wonderful time and are extremely well cared for.

In the meantime, the moms (about 50 of us) meet in another building for breakfast, social time, and weekly entertainment, whether it be a guest speaker, craft projects, manicures from cosmetology students, or fitness instruction from a guest teacher. It's something different every week.
The group meets for 9 weeks at a time, once per week, from 9:00- 11:15. I believe the fee is $30.00 for the mom and $35.00 per child, but I'm not positive.

If this is something you'd be interested in, check it out at www.seacoastgrace.org ... it's called Moms Together. I could introduce you to the group if you'd like to try it out. You are welcome to visit without having to join. I'm really glad to have found it - my daughter loves it and I've made some new friends.

Hi S.!
I live in El Dorado Park Estates - just moved from Los Altos. I have a 2.5 yr old & 6mo. old (both girls)! I've been a member of the Long Beach Little Ones since fall 2005 when it was started (12 members). It's a yahoo group and there are members (now over 300) all over LB and surrounding areas. They have a calendar and lots and lots of activities/playdates. I don't go to that many because it seems most of my day is spent juggling naps - but we try! Log on and check it out/join. I've met some really great moms/kids. Feel free to email me if you want to get together. I'm busy Wed & Fri but other days are ok!

J. (mom to Gianna & Celeste)
