Hang in there. I have a nine year old with ADHD and he is on a new drug called Vavanse and it is working great. He can even tell the difference.

Hey D.,
I have a brother in law with ADHD. So I am a little familiar with it. I attend a lot of health seminars and read alot about nutrition. There is a link between nutrition and ADHD. I would try to eliminate as much refined sugar as possible and eat whole foods like fruits and veggies and whole grains. And lots of water of course. This doesn't have to be a dramatic change, maybe introduce a new food a week and cut something out. Please let me know if you have any questions. I hold wellness presentations and would love to share more information with you!
Thanks,
C. Schilling

I taught students with special needs for 11 years. Is she in regular classes? What medical professionals are involved? There are wonderful medications to be tried. I am a firm believer in meds since it has the capacity to help the child be successful, therefore happier. A Child Psychiatrst and a psychologist would be a good beginning unless those are in place. Good communication with the school is essential. Does she have an IEP or 504 plan? Does the school offer a "coping" class? If I have more information from you, I can offer more detailed suggestions if you would like. W. M.

I have a 13 year old son that has ADD. He is on Focalin XR we just switched him back in April. He was on Concerta before that for over 3 years. Trust me we have tried to let him go without it in school and it didn't work. He got in trouble at school several times. Our school system is great though. they try to work with them but they do face the consequinces of their actions. He is in AG classes too because he is so intelligent. Most ADD/ADHD kids have a higher IQ and get bored easilly in class. It really is an ongoing battle. Especially now that he is a teenager
