Hello Mommas, I am looking to update or redo my appearance. I will be having another birthday at the end of this month, and would really like a change. I just had highlights added to my hair(which I have never done before), and I love it! Now I would like to do something with my make-up. I have always purchased my make-up from the drugstore, or Target, I have NEVER bought make-up from a department store. What places or services do you recommend to totally revamp your appearance with cosmetics? Any and all suggestions or tips will be appreciated. Thanks so much, and may God bless you!

Try the Benefit counter at Macy's. Just tell them you want a makeover and they'll do it for you. You won't need an appointment if you go during the day on a weekday. It would cost a fortune to purchase everything they'll show you, so just ask for help prioritizing it and buy a few things at a time. The girl who works at the Macy's near me (Parks Mall in Arlington) loves "playing" and will do my makeup anytime I go in to buy something!

Hi C..

Most department store makeup counters will do a makeover for free. If you book a makeover with a makeup artist at a salon or spa it will cost you. I would recommend going to a fancy department store and having your makeup updated. I really like Bobbi Brown at Neiman Marcus northpark. You can then buy one item from them and take the rest of your list and colors to a grocery store and find the affordable version.

If you don't want to be tied to one brand and don't mind paying for the makeover, Studio One Ten is known for their makeovers. They can do everything from hair to makeup.

Hope this helps!

LOVE, LOVE Bare Escentuals also called Mineral ID...there is a Bare Escentuals store in Northpark Mall on lower level by Nordstroms.....they'll show you everything you need to know, just go in with some time on your hands. Looks so natural and good for your skin as well. I have nothing to do with the company....just LOVE their product and it may also be called Bare Minerals....

I really believe you would be pleased with Mary Kay. I only did the Target route, too, until a friend talked me into trying Mary Kay. My consultant taught me how to take care of my skin and how to better apply make-up. I quit using it for a while when we moved, going to Merle Norman as my grandmother had recommended to me for years, and while it is also good it isn't AS good and it's more expensive than MK - plus they didn't really teach me all the application tricks. I just recently found a new consultant and she came to my house, sat down with me, and did an entire new look for me. I learned some application tricks that are new (to me anyway), my husband loves it! I love it, and I love that she delivers everything to my home. It is a little more expensive than what you are used to (that was hard for me) but it is TOTALLY worth it!!! Good luck with whatever you decide!

Personally, I would suggest Bare Minerals. I recently did this. Its easy, not to expensive and you can go as heavy or light as you want on coverage. Its all about you. I love it, I've had more compliment on my skin and it is so easy to apply. If I can do it anyone can.

I always used Lancome which I would still recommend, its just in the long run I think Bare Minerals is so wonderful and light weight and good for you skin.

You could go to Ulta and they'll do a make-up session with you and their make-up is good and inexpensive. You could go to a department store and they have different brands with someone at each who will do a session with you. I really like MAC but there is also Clinique, Estee Lauder or Lancome, to name a few.

I have gone to Estee Lauder and had my complete face made over for a dinner engagement that same night. I loved it. Someone else did my make-up for the evening and taught me a few tricks. I bought most of the products used on my face.

I would recommend Perscriptives. They actually make the foundation while your there. So you have the right shade for your skin tone. I think they also do makeovers. If you live close to the North East mall, i know theres a station you can buy from.Have a great birthday!!

Merle Norman does free makeovers and their makeup isn't outrageously priced.

Hello C.,

I have a botanically based skin care, health and wellness company.

We have an excellent line of cosmetics. My personal story is I rarely used make up because I didn't like that thick cakey feeling. But from the minute I put this foundation on I loved it. It feels like I have nothing on my skin and looks very natural.

All of our products are botanically based, hypoallergenic, ph correct, never tested on animals, contain no animal products or by-products, contain no mineral oil and are dermatolgoist tested. Every ingredient in every product is pure, safe and beneficial.

So ultimately, you are getting a healthier product and you're not getting a lot of stuff you don't know about.

I'd love to give you a free consultation. There's no obligation at all.

Please feel free to call me or send me your info and I'll give you a call.

Take care and God bless

M. Atterberry
