Which LIQUID Makeup Do You like Best?

Hi,
Powder makeup doesn't work for me, so I was wondering which liquid makeup you like best. I usually end up buying products from Walgreens or so, but I don't mind buying some high end products, if they work great. I need good coverage. Thanks for your advice!!!

So What Happened?

Hello, I have sampled several makeups in the meantime based on your excellent recommendations: Dior (which I like a lot as well), Clinique, Estee Lauder, Shiseido, Revlon, Neutrogena, and I also gave Mary Kay a try because of a free sample from a fellow mamasource mom. What works best for me? MARY KAY, which I never would have thought to try hadnt it been for the numerous recommendations. Thanks so much!

I think for liquid the best are estee lauder and dior!
But that is me experience.
Estee Lauder will give you a free sample to use for 15 days..if you go in a department store...and they try first the one you need1

I LOVE Loreal's true match. They really have created a wonderful line of liquid makeup that truly matches (sorry for sounding cheesy) your skin shade. I am half nigerian and half hispanic so I have a tan complexion with an orange undertone. Let me tell you that I have NEVER been able to match makeup to my skin because they all geared more towards the anglo skin shades. I dont know what you are, but they have shades for EVERYBODY. And its anywhere from $7-9 a bottle, so definitely a bargain. You can get it at any grocery store.

Hope that helps.

And not to tell my age ,but, I've been using this product since the early 90's. If they ever discontinue it, I'll be in a world of trouble!!

I think Prescriptives liquid foundation is the best..you can get a totally custom color for your face...for around $48 dollars. They have sorts of coverage options. Nordstrom, Niemans, probably Macys carries it. I think Niemans is the only store where you can get it custom blended just for your skin.

Hi Andrea,

This is the first time I am responding to anything on this site. I am a Newbie to Mamasource.

Couple of things, I love anything Nutragena products. I have used their liquid makeup and I love that it dispenses with a finger touch push so you can control how much you need at any given time. If you need a good coverup because of acne control, their oil-free foaming face wash is THE answer to that. It has cleared me up and keeps me clear.

I have used powder make-up and I do love Bare-Escentuals
products. I have tried off-brand powder foundations and never cared for them. You can find BareEssentuals at their website and through QVC. It is a little pricey, but then again, I'm cheap. I've had to learn from my wonderful husband that many times you do get what you pay for.

I highly recommend that you make sure your foundation has an SPF factor to protect from the sun and aging. I'm not going
to age one second faster than I have to. hahahah

Hope that helps,
KMK

I've been using Clinique for almost 20 years! I love their superfit liquid and they loose powder transparancy. I take their compact wherever I go (superpowder double face makeup) and it give excellent coverage. As long as you wash your face (their make up remover and facial soap [bar]) is excellent in the morning and before you go to bed at night, you shouldn't have any breakouts.

you know i think that you have recieved way too many responses but here's one more! i always used liquid until i got hooked on mineral make up. it actually improves your skin! your skin begins to look healthier and more radiant. i am using ulta mineral foundation, bare essentials mineral veil and avon's mineral blush. my skin is healthier and looks better now at 48 than it did 10 years ago when i used liquids and followed up with powder! even if they say non comedigenic! ugh i disagree. if they don't clog your pores how come i was still breaking out till i switched to mineral? i even use mineral eye shadow! it wears like a dream and covers everything and it is safe to sleep in if you get really tired and just want to go to bed! if it looks a little dry on you, you just have to use a little more moisturizer and wait a few minutes for the moisturizer to soak in before you apply the make up! also be sure to use a kabuki brush for the foundation. hope that helps. even though you are probably tired of hearing so many different responses. good luck!

It was great converage and their emoillent moisturizer that has almost a vasline consistency but absorbs is fabulous. On the other hand if you want to shop high end and have the money I also loved Channel. I worked 12hr shifts and my make would look almost as good toward end of day as it did at the beginning without touch ups!! I have not tried Arabonne but would be interested in trying it. I use Clinique. I have tried others and I just keep going back to Clinique. Even though I use Mary Kay creams I did not like the foundation after using Cliniqe. They do such a good job at Clinique at matching your skin tone. The one I like is called "Perfectly Real". It may not be there sheerest one but it is very light on my face and helps conceal imperfections.

I use my hands to put it on. It doesn't take much, I use it every day and I a container lasts at least 3 or 4 months. One thing I figured out after applying it with my hands is that I have to put liquid soap on afterwards before getting my hands wet with water to wash it off.

I agree with Loreal True Match, best part is sometimes you can get it buy 1 get 1 free. I'm a light hispanic with yellow undertones so I go with warm shade 3 for liquid and shade 4 for powder or else I look too light. You can mix one shade up or down to find the perfect shade for you. Years ago I used Mary Kay... I kept trying it, but it always caused breakouts. I won't use the less expensive brands found in drug stores because of their toxicity... something I've become more and more aware of in recent years. I have loved the bare essentials brand for the last 6 or so years, but I used the powder foundation. Now I have switched to the Nicole Miller line from Melaleuca which is packed with vitamins, etc... again, I use the powder and have no breakouts. The liquid is great, so my friends say, and has great coverage. I had some friends who switched from Arbonne liquid and Beauticontrol liquid to the Nicole Miller and like it better. I know that Nicole Miller products are satisfaction guaranteed. I'm not sure about Arbonne, etc., but I would just try them all and see which you like best on your skin.

I no longer do powder or liquid makeup. Ever since I have gone with Bare Minerals, I won't touch anything else. I love the fact that the makeup is light and looks natural, does not crease or create creases, and lasts just about forever.

The beginning kit is about 60 dollars...but well worth it. You can go purchase bare minerals at Sephora or Bare Escentuals stores. Also, you can purchase them online, including QVC. The price is well worth it. I love their eye shadows too....but to help save on money, i usually purchase the kits as well....which throws in extras like brushes and carrying cases. Well worth the money.

absolutely love the stuff, and everyone i have gotten onto it refuse to go to any other makeup brand or style.

I personally love the Lancome foundations. I've tried several over the years and found that the MAC and the Lancome ones are the best at color matching with my skin. The MAC one I found came in a compact and the only problem is it is a little heavier than the liquid makeup. One of the things I love about the Lancome foundation I use is how my skin feels while I am wearing it and how smooth it leaves my skin after I wash it off. It also has a good SPF, which is important for protecting your skin. If you get a chance, go visit a Lancome counter in Macy's (or other dept. store) and get them to find a color and coverage good for you. Without buying any, try it out that day and see how your skin reacts and feels after wearing it for a few hours. I think you will be very impressed.

Hi andrea, powders didn't work for me either. However, if you find the right color for your skin tone and keep wearing it for about a week your skin will adjust to it and then it should start working really well. Most liquids have talc in them and actually can be very drying to your skin. I am using physicians formula mineral wear which i bought at walgreens for $12.99. It took about 4 days and it started working for me. Also these loose powders are better for your skin. I have oily skin sometimes and make up seems to change color on me. This loose powder doesn't. It is working very well, but i had to give it a chance. I hope this helps. D.

I think that Mary Kay has the best liquid makeup all the way around. I forget how much it costs, but it blends in perfectly with your skin tone and there are so many different shades, that you will find the right one no matter what your color or skin type. It covers just about every flaw with or without concealer, and if you do use their concealer, even better. When I was using Mary Kay, people were always complimenting me on how perfect my complexion was. The only reason that I'm not using it right now, is because I am in a very small town with no consultant that I know of, and I have quit selling for various reasons.

I am NOT a Mary Kay consultant, and I've always used higher end make-up in the past. But I have to say, I LOVE their foundation. I don't like heavy foundation, and I avoided wearing any for the longest time - just used coverup and powder. But after I started using the Mary Kay foundation (medium coverage, I think), I asked my mom if she noticed my new make-up...she said "No, I just thought you were feeling a lot better." So, in a back-handed way, I think that means it looks good. :)

I wear liquid because my skin is so dry. I actually mix Covergirl true blend and the liquid from Arbonne. My skin tone is hard to match. I either get too pink or too yellow. I can't pick it right, so by blending the two I get the perfect color and enough coverage. The Arbonne leaves my skin feeling moist but not greasy and the covergirl is cheap so it makes it last.
