Looking to Sell Baby Gear - Strollers, Diaper Bags, Toys

I have a large jogging-type stroller (burgundy/brown Urban Baby) that's barely been used and needs a good home. My dd is almost four and prefers her little umbrella stroller when out & about. I also have a Graco blue travel system stroller (with matching diaper bag but without the carseat) that has been well loved but again needs a good home. I have several EUC diaper bags - one brown/pink, another large & small black/pink.

Is it best to take these sorts of items to consignment stores/sales or has anyone had any luck on Craigslist with these sorts of things? I also have a wide assortment of toddler girl clothes - ranging from 18 mths to 3 years. I was wondering if it would be worth anything to sort through them all for the brand names if any of the upcoming consignment sales are worth the effort? Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with selling baby items they'd like to share?

Hi,

You can always take things to a resale store like Once Upon A Child, see what they give you for the pieces and then you can decide if you are happy with the amount they want to give you. It will give you also an idea how much you can ask for it on Craigslist. Craigslist seemed to be really good for us for selling larger pieces like stroller, high chair, pack'n play. Clothing seemed to be a lot easier to take to a resale store and selling it there.
Good luck!

Resales shops will give you cash or credit, if you take the credit you get more money for your stuff. Ebay you can bundle your clothing and you sales like 15 pieces for a certain amnt. Resales are obviously eaiser than Ebay but I would look on Ebay for the prices and then see what your local resales are willing to give. They obviosuly still need to make a profit after buying from you so I would think Ebay you might get more money. Make sure you only accept Pay Pal form of payment if your shipping the items and be careful of allowing people to come to your home I would meet them somewhere, you just never know what weirdo is out there. :)

I second Divine Consign! I have been shopping their sale for years and LOVE IT. I get and sell tons of stuff there.(Okay, I get more than I sell but you get the idea!) It is an awesome sale and totally worth it. You will get much more from them than you do at a consignment store and you don't have to deal with listing everything and having strangers come to your house like on craigslist. Good luck!

Hi. I have alot of success with ebay and craigslist. Craigslist is free to list, I'd try that first!

You might want to put your stuff in Divine Consign . . . they have two HUGE sales a year and my daughter loved this place. She is so disappointed that since she moved from the area, she is not able to make their sales now. :(

Their website is: http://www.divineconsign.net/

If you put stuff in the sale, you are allowed to shop the sale the day before it is opened to the public. It is amazing the wonderful buys you can get there. Like whole season's wardrobe for under $100.

Hi, you should look into consignment sales. I am a consigner at divine consign twice a year and I have done great! They are very organized and it is a lot of fun, as a matter of fact, I just got the email today about the fall sale coming up. It is at the end of August and they have 3 different locations. Their website is divineconsign.net, you also get to shop early as a consigner or if you choose to volunteer you get to shop even earlier!

Definitely worth it to try Craigslist,I sell a lot there and there are also some online garage sale yahoo groups for our area as well. I've heard good and bad things about the large consignment shows (items have to be in great condition, cleaned, etc). That and with any type of consignment you aren't going to get near as much as you would selling it yourself. Aim a little high so that they can bargain with you. Only downside with selling on CL or the yahoo groups is no-shows but baby/toddler items tend to sell really well.

First off, welcome to the area! I'm a Missouri transplant and have been here five years and love it. As for the baby items, I would definitely try Craigslist! My hubby and I are preparing for our first baby and have been able to purchase a dresser/changer combo and a stroller/car seat for a great price. There are so many people out there who need things that you're bound to have someone pick it up!

Craig's List is a good resource or if you have a myspace account they have an area to post it there. You can also print out an ad and post it at the local Kroger. Good luck. :-)

Here are a few options.
Bye-Buy Consign
http://www.bbconsign.com/
I haven't been to this sale or sold anything here but I have heard great things about it and plan on at least attending the sale this year.
Aug. 7-9 in Lewisville

Kid to Kid has always been a good option for me also. They have locations all over the metroplex and you get more $ if you take your payments in store credit. Since I shop there also it was a good option for me.

Seems there are several other places I should check out from the previous posts also. good luck!

I've always gone to the Just Between Friends Sale to purchase items. They take all kinds of children's items and you make a percentage. Their website is www.jbfsale.com

My advice would be to sell the "big" stuff on Craigslist. That is the first place I go to look for that kind of stuff. You won't get much for them at a resale shop.

I would sell all clothes that you actually want money for at Once Upon a Child or Kid to Kid. Then, whatever they don't take you can give to charity.

Then you'll have unloaded everything and it won't be much effort on your part. Good luck!

Hi H.,
Looks like you've gotten some good resources. I would say try Craigslist for the equipment and wait for a JBF Sale for the clothing and any equipment you end up not selling on Craigslist. The JBF Sale will only take your fall/winter stuff this time around and then in spring will take your spring/summer stuff but they will take everything that's in great shape unlike Kid to Kid and Once Upon a Child. They'll even take Halloween costumes and snuglis. The other great thing about JBF is they will donate your remaining items to local charities if you want them to do that. You'll do all your own tagging and pricing and putting together, the tags are created online for Ft. Worth and for Mid-Cities and I think Denton too.

My suggestion is to take it to Kid to Kid. You won't get as much for it as when you sell it yourself, but you don't have to deal with having to meet people or have people come to your home. I just weigh the safety of my home vs the $$$ you get.
