Looking to Connect with Other Single Moms on This Network

Hey Moms. I am a single parent and wondering how other single moms are coping as a single parent. I have four children, but two of them are older, so I don't have a lot of the small children issues with them anymore. I do have a ten yr old and a one yr old, so I do have my hands full still. Without a support system (I do mostly everything alone) it gets to be frustrating at times. Just wondering if any other moms are experiencing the same thing. Thanks.

What can I do next?

hi T., I am a single mom of a 16yr old daughter...I have a boyfriend that has been in her life for years, but it is still hard. Where are you? How can I help. Remember it takes a village to raise a child.

Hi T.,

I only have one child, an 18-month old son, and have been a single mom pretty much for the last six months. My husband and I are in the process of going through a divorce. It is quite difficult with only one child - I can't imagine how you do it with 4! I think the hardest thing is just feeling so lonely and alone - I love my son very much, but it is difficult to not have anyone else in my life to share things with. It is frustrating!

Hi T.,

Oh, I know the feeling. I have my mom to help me out, but she can't always babysit, which means the social calendar doesn't get filled up too often. My ex & his girlfriend are a train wreck that just keep taunting me. I have twin toddlers. They're what keep me going. They're funny & we have a good time most of the time. They do give me a hard time sometimes. Teeth brushing is a nightmare w/ my son. I have a friend, whom is actually my ex-sister in law that was married to my ex's brother. Her daughter is just two months older than mine, so we try to get them together for play dates. Tomorrow, I'm bringing the kids to the zoo alone. I know being a single mom is hard, but the best thing to do is just take it all in stride & have fun with your kids.

Take care,
Aim

Hi T.,

I'm a single mom to Two beautiful girls- 16 & 7. I dont have a great support system. My ex is a very devoted father, however I do not get any financial support- which is VERY difficult. As long as his girlfriend isnt around, he'll help with pick up/drop offs.
My oldest doesn't care for the g/f very much-and so I'm learning that my younger one doesnt either. We've been divorced for almost four years now and the communication WAS great between my ex & i regarding the girls schedules
( soccer,cheer etc) but since this new g/f ( this is no.4)
its pretty much strained. The girls complain all the time about it. So we are in the process of finding a counselor
(my ex thinks the girls are drama queens) but i feel that their emotions are valid and should be heard. FRUSTRATING !!!
Dont want to ramble on about my "drama" ...so getting connected to other single moms would be a great support system! Glad you started this thread :)

Hi T.,
I'm a 40 year old single mom of one. My daughter is 16 months and we have been on our own since I discovered I was pregnant with her. Single parenthood comes with it's own unique challenges, that's for sure. We are in Troy, NY. Online chatting is also an option.

You are not alone. I have four children as well...22, 19, 16, and almost 3yrs. old.

It gets trying sometimes, but I hold onto the fact that God thinks I can do this alone. Regardless of my poor choices in an ex-husband and an ex-fiance', they helped bring four beautiful children into the world...that's about it.

I have my days when I can't stand being the only parent..like today, but I will get through it.

Keep your chin up and drop me a line,
Nanc

I am a single mom of an 11 year old daughter and a 7 year old son. It truly is difficult and isolating. I've had to learn to ask for help from friends, which is not easy. I have only a couple of acquaintances who are single parents and it would be great to have a support network.

Dear T.:

Unfortunately I am not a mom yet but I am looking to adopt a child as a single woman. Saying this I too will not have a support system/group. Maybe we can chat about your experiences. Again i am not a mom yet but would be happy to be a verbal support for you especially during frustrating times.

Hi T., Don't have any magic but I did raise 3 as a single mom until I met my second husband. I took any opportunity to do something for myself but in general I just did what I had to do and prayed a lot. I took up the guitar which I could play when they went to sleep and eventually played to get them to sleep. Today my 4 sons are musicians. Just be the best mom you can be and remember this time will pass and you can look back on it and say "I did it and survived" You are in my prayers. Grandma Mary

Hi T.,

I two am a single mom of three, 10, 7, and 5. I get no support at all. Things are very difficult, although I have a great boyfriend, he feels that he should not have to support my children and I agree. He is there when they need him though. My children have a good relationship with my boyfriend. When dad is around everything I teach them goes out the window. So that my children has some sort of relationship with their father(The Loser) he will come to my house so that I can do shopping or get some errands done, when I get home my house is a disaster. I am at the point that I am very uncomfortable in my own home. Very soon I am puting a stop to the crazyness in my home. We are moving to a new home and their father is not welcome in my house. I am a very hardworking person and I need a break, many times I feel like this is too hard.
