We tried a play class at Gymboree and I was not impressed. I have a 19mo daughter who needs an outlet and I also want to socialize her with kids her own age...have been looking for some sort of Mommy and Me class, no luck...

Hi N.,
I'm not sure where Westmont is compared to Naperville, but have you been to the DuPage Children's Musuem on Washington Street? I just took my 11 month old there yesterday for the first time and was so impressed!! There's tons there for toddlers to do. I bought a membership yesterday, and plan on going there now at least once a week. The membership was $52/year for 1 adult and 1 child. I HIGHLY recommend it!!

I am a stay at home mom of a 15 month old, and a nanny of a 6 month old. I was very unimpressed with Gymboree although I LOVED the idea of the open gym. I live in Chicago, so I don't know about locally, but Merry Music Makers here in Chicago is AMAZING! Both kids love it, it isn't overly structured, and they get to run, play and dance. Siblings are ok. You might want to check out their website it is merrymusicmakers.net. They may have an idea for you for your area.

Good luck!
Jeny

I love Kindermusik. I have taken my daughter and my son. I go to one in Lockport, I know there are more, but it all depends on the teacher. You can check Kindermusik.com for locations and get informtion about the teachers. I really love the lullaby league especially Michelle Ray.

Try you local Village. See if they have a program called Tot Rock. They are at the on in Carol Stream. I think they are all over. They have a web site as well. I went to it with my son just for something to do and love it. Great interaction.

There are several things to do in our area. Wiggleworms (The Old Town School of Music) has an excellent class in Hinsdale. Also, Oak Brook Park District has movement classes and Music Together. The YMCA out by you has Gym & Swim which is great fun.
There is also a swim program at Lifetime Fitness in Burr Ridge which you do not need to be a member of Lifetime Fitness or the YMCA to participate.
Check you local park district as well they may have links to other area park districts.
In the Fall I teach a Busy Baby Yoga for mom's and tots. If you are interested I can keep you posted.
I hope this helps.

Have you tried Westmont's park district? I don't know anything about Westmont's, but the one in Elmhurst, where I live, is wonderful. There are lots of mom and me classes from gymnastics to music to regular preschool type classes. If Westmont doesn't offer anything, look into Elmhurst's at epd.org. You can take classes as a nonresident. Good luck! Oh - another idea - IGI (gymnatics) is in Westmont and has a mom and me class for 18 mo. and up. ###-###-#### One other thought - our hospital offers some mom and me classes, too (exercise, sign language, music). Maybe one closer to Westmont would as well. Good luck.
