HI SORRY SO LONG!!
I have been with my current pediatrician for about 7 years and am looking into a new one.
I love my kids doctor, but she is OVERLY paranoid, which in turn is turning out to be expensive for us. Example: my son had a hurt leg one night, so I took him in the next day to the doctor. Of course at this time he was TOTALLY fine..but she still recommened me getting an X-ray! I said, "are you sure, he isn't complaining anymore, everything seems to be fine" WELL, come to find out NOTHING was wrong..and in turn my "deducutable" for hostipal visits is $300!! Of course I wasn't told this at the hospital, and I realize it's my responsibility to know my deductable, but honestly, if the hospital would have said, "hey just an FYI your deductable is $300"..I Would have gotten out of there QUICK. Obviously if it was broken bone, something that my son had continued to complain about - then yes, I would have done the x-rays. Oh..and on top of this - she had us go to Detroit Medical Center for a re-check on the leg..the doctor there was really nice and in a nice way said I had wasted my time going down there (at 8AM mind you)! It came down to most likely a growing pain. Again, I love her..but just hate the whole "oh..coughing - must be bronchitas" type attitude. I need a middle of the road doctor :)

Thanks!!

I'm going to second Pediatric Consultants of Troy in the Troy Beaumont medical building. My oldest is 19, so I've spent many years with the group. Dr. Michael Treblin is my favorite. In general, I've found female doctors to be a little more "overly careful" than the male doctors in the group. Dr. Dubina is a little bit of the "just in case" doctor, so I always request Dr. Treblin (he was incredible during our four month stint in the NICU with our preemie baby 16 years ago.) Their number is ###-###-####.

Look at this website for Dr. O'Shea. She is wonderful and the office is beautiful www.birminghampediatrics.com. See if you like what she has to say. I think she is right down the middle and gives you very nice individual attention. Good luck.

We love Dr. Kappy. He is the head of pediatrics at Henry Ford and has an office in West Bloomfield. We have been seeing him for years and my son and daughter love him. He is reasonable but not paranoid. He also is very quick to answer phone calls and even emails. He and his partners have open slots everyday in case you have a sick kid that has to be seen. Let me know if you want/need more info.

We LOVE Child Health Associates. They have an office in Farmington and one in Troy (brand new, beautiful office). We take our 9 month old to the one in Troy. Every doctor we have seen has been wonderful (with the exception of one who was fired not long after I talked with the chief doctor in the practive-apparently I wasn't the only one with issues wtih her). They also have a great nurses line so there's always someone very friendly and knowledgeable to speak with in case you don't want to cart your kid in "just to see." We've spent quite a bit of time there in these short months (food allergies, exczema, ear infection) and have nothing be rave reviews.
