Hello! I am looking to put my 3 year old in dance. She is currently in tumbling and loves it, but she has a hard time with it due to her special needs. Does anybody know of a GOOD dance studio where the teachers have experience in dealing with kids with special needs? My daughter is non-verbal right now, and can follow most directions. I am looking for the Orland, Palos, Mokena, Homer area. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hello, I am not sure where you are located but the dance studio I take my daughters to does have dance classes for children/adults with special needs. I love this studio. They have a wonderful way with children. My girls have been going for a couple of years now. My oldest has been dancing since she was 3 and my youngest just started to go this year. They are only located in Lagrange. The website is http://www.impactdancestudio.com/. Check them out. Hope this helps.

When I was 7 (21 yrs ago, haha) I went to The Dance Workshop. I used to be located in downtown Palos Heights on Harlem Ave. I looked it up and it is still open, has been for 24 yrs, and now located in Orland park, IL. The address is 9015 W. 151st Street Orland Park, IL.
I have great memories of dancing there. My teachings were fun and I enjoyed going to class. I hope it turns out the same for your daughter. (Thank you for bringing back such great memories for me! :)

Sincerely,
L.

Hi! I am in Orland Park. The two dance studios I am aware of are Creative Dance in Orland Park and Elite Dance in Homer Glen. I am not sure how they are with Special Needs, but if you call Creative Dance and talk to Cheryl, she could talk about your options. Also, I know the village of ORland also has stuff for special needs kids, and we do a lot of stuff through the church of Nazarene on Bell Road in Lemont- they might also have something to help you.

I don't know the specifics of what's available, but I do know that the Oak Lawn Park District has a lot of special recreation department classes... perhaps they have dance too. Their new class catalog just came out. You can ck it out on line. www.olparks.com
