We area looking for a long term rental where we can walk where we need to go. I've been looking on sites like vrbo, home away etc. and haven't figured out if there is a way to put in an address you want to be near. I haven't seen anything like that used as a filter and there is no place to type it in. Is there a site that I could use that would be more efficient? Thanks!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Problem solved. Didn't know VRBO had a customer service line. The balloons were popping up but the map isn't large and detailed so I could see which places were close to where I needed to be. The customer service person took the address I needed and sent me a link to 3 homes that were walking distance to it. Just wanted to let you guys know if you have a similar need. Thanks.

I don't think I understand your question.

You want to do a vacation rental in a specific city and a specific location?
Why not just hire an agent to help you negotiate the price and location?

WHERE do you want to go?
For how long?
Is this going to be occurring frequently or just this year?

have you tried https://www.sublet.com/city_rentals/brooklyn_rentals.asp

you can put in any place and find stuff.

tripadvisor.
if the site itself doesn't yield what you want there are extensive discussion boards where you can ask that specific question and people who have been there will respond.
it's hands down the best vacation site i've ever used.

I've rented a few vacation homes this year using airbnb and it's been great! You can search by town/city and click on the map to zoom in on particular neighborhoods or areas you want to be in. It's easy to search by price and number of bedrooms and other features too.

What do you mean when you say "walk where you need to go"? You mean like renting in New York City? (No one needs a car to get around the main parts of the city, can walk or take the subway etc.)

Find a vacation rental agent in the city you want to visit and then call them with the specifics such as time, size, price ,location, etc.

No, but when you put in a city there is a map with little emblems showing where the rentals are. Sounds like there aren't any in the area you want. There aren't that many in a majority of places. They do seem to be right around certain areas, like Branson MO, there are LOTS of them in that area.

I suggest you call a realtor and find out if any of the properties in that area have short term rental situations.

All of these sites have a map option so you can filter it that way. You could also email the owner/management and ask if the home is walking distance to the location you are interested in. Do not expect an exact location until after you book something, since thieves also check these sites to break in when the homes are empty.

You should also email the owners/management and ask if they offer long term rentals, here in Florida some areas are zoned for short term only and that is 30 days or less.
