Looking for a Pediatric Optometrist in Camarillo Area

Hi Everyone. My son just turned four and I suspect he's nearsighted. I'm blind as a bat myself. I took him to an optometrist about 8 months ago and she just wasn't good with him at all. We basically found out nothing at that visit. Has anyone found an optometrist who they feel is just marvelous with little ones? My son isn't one to just automatically cooperate and will probably have to be coaxed. We live in Camarillo but would be happy to drive to Thousand Oaks, Oxnard, or Ventura. I appreciate any leads you can give me.

What can I do next?

Thanks you for your suggestions. I've made an appointment for Aaron for next Friday. Wish us luck.

Hi M.,

I have taken my 3-yr old DD to Dr. Buffo at Camarillo Optometry on Ventura Blvd. He was listed in my insurance as one that takes children, not necessarily specializing in them. But I was surprised. He had me sit in the chair with her on my lap to make her comfortable. He even joked with her. At first she was nervous but I could tell she felt much better by the end.

Hope this helps.

Hi M.!
I have an optometrist in Thousand Oaks that I am very happy with. When my daughter had to get glasses he was wonderful! I believe he has 5 kids himself and is great with kids and adults. We left with all questions anwsered and actually had a good time. Now all my kids what to go have their eyes checked. Look him up at www.DrSnyder.org. Good luck with your little guy!

I agree with Mama L. I also live in Camarillo and just recently went to Dr. Buffo at Boulevard Optometry for the first time. My oldest (11) and I both needed our annual exams and new glasses. They have Saturday appts, which is great, but I have four kids ranging from 11 years to 22 months and had to take all of them with me because my husband was working. His entire staff was very helpful and patient with all of the kids. My son who is 5 can't wait for his turn. As another point, the optometrist I had previously taken my daughter to paid no attention to the possibility of her having astygmatism even though I mentioned that I have a very strong prescription because of it. Instead, she just gave my daughter a prescription for non-prescription strength reading glasses and said she was just farsighted. Dr. Buffo, on the other hand, was able to really deal with both issues and we ended up with a much better prescription that she can also wear to help eliminate the fuzziness at distances too. Anyway, I hope you find what you are looking for. Good luck!

Hi, I'm not sure about a pediatric optometrist but our primary pediatrician is Dr Paul Feldheim in Ventura. He is also with Dr Chronis on 5850 Thille St #103, phone ###-###-####.
Our son was born with a heart condition and Dr. Feldheim was so instrumental in getting all the right referrals immediately when he was an infant and thruout his care until his open heart surgery was scheduled last year. Dr Feldheim has such a fabulous bedside manner too. His associate is also very good. The only drawback is their office is very small. I know they where planning to get a larger space and may have already. We have not seen him for over 6 months. Godd luck. M. S
