My son loves the little tykes cozy coupe - they are a few at the daycare he goes to and his little cousin has one. I've been thinking about getting him one for himself for his birthday in September; he'll be 3. Is it worth the money at this age or will he outgrow it too quickly to bother?

If you decide to buy a new one, the resale value is pretty good. Little Tykes products hold up really well!
However it you want to look for a used one, I'm sure you'll save a lot of money. My sister gave me one (she has 2 childeren) and I'm passing it onto my 3rd little boy. When he has outgrown it, I'm sure I'll sell it at a yard sale. They have all thoroughly enjoyed playing with it.
My 3 year old still loves his! He's had it since 1 and he has always loved it as well as all of his friends.
You could always check craig's list to find one. Then if he looses interest in it, the investment hasn't been too much, but in the mean time, its been a toy he has enjoyed.
We have two of them and three kids ages 8,5, and 3 (1 boy and 2 girls) and they all have a blast with them. I have to keep them from fighting over them. My 8 year old has to be reminded he is too big to fit in but he can somehow still manage to cram himself in when I'm not looking. It was well worth the money spent on them for the amount of use we have gotten out of them. One of them was bought new from grandpa and the other one I found at a garage sale for $5 (it looks like a police car, you can imagine the fun they have with that one!) There are usually some to be found at consignment sales. There are a lot of those sales coming up soon this month and next if you're looking to find one at a bargain price.
