Cozy Coupe Vs. Step 2 Push Buggy Car

I am deciding between these two cars for my two year old son's birthday. I realize the cozy coupe can be mobilized by him, but from what I remember my older son didn't really like do this for too long until he was a little older. The Step 2 car is something he can sit in while I walk along my older son who is learning to ride a bike or while I walk the dog. However, it looks smaller and I am not sure how long he will fit inside of it (goes up to age 3 yrs. on the website). The handle on the cozy coupe does not appear very comfortable for an adult to push it very long. Any opinions Moms?

What can I do next?

Personally, the only thing I was willing to push my son around in was a stroller. There's something to be said for letting them develop at their own pace, develop the muscles to push themselves.

Just looking at the Step 2, this is what I see: a trunk, which can be loaded with toys, which the child will then want to access while on the walk--because older toddlers are like this (causing conflict); a backache getting the toy up/onto curbs; body pain from pushing this big toy with your child on it (consider the added weight) with one arm while trying to manage doggie with the other arm.

The fact that it has a seat belt suggests that the kid may not be ready for it. I don't mind seatbelts for cars or strollers, but the idea that a child needs to be belted on a riding toy?

I worked in childcare for a long time-- those are the foreseeable negatives. The Cozy Coupe will help your kid learn how to get their legs in and out of the vehicle (lifting them higher), the kids like the door, and your kid does get more of a chance to use their legs and move the toy around, developing strength in the legs. We had these with our older toddler groups on the playground. Probably not great for a walk, but fun for home.

My son had the cozy coupe and didn't use it much. My daughter had the push buggy and we used it quite a bit-for walks etc. So much better than the stroller for big events (fireworks, community events, the zoo). I'm tall and it was easy to push. I've never seen a cozy coupe with a handle-but the way the wheels are makes pushing a cozy coupe like pushing a wagon. I bought her the buggy b4 she turned one and she used it till 2-but she is large for her age. I never bought her a cozy coupe, but a little trike that had a trunk and a key she could turn. She liked that for at home play.

Cozy Coupe hands down. The thing that you push, seems like a waste. You want to push, put him in his stroller. Cozy Coupe he has to use his legs etc. which is much better than sitting there being pushed.

We got my daughter a cozy coupe when she was two, and she still loves it to this day. I do like that it's roomy, but it's not the ideal thing to push a kid around in. I'm 5'6 and have to lean over to push her around in it. She mainly uses it roll around the house.
We did get a tricycle for my son around this age that had the push stick/bar on the back. That was great for taking out on strolls and we used it a lot for that purpose. It also helped him learn to peddle so that he could ride around on his own if he felt so inclined. I think it was a Schwinn.
Hope this helps.

We have both. The Step 2 was perfect when my oldest son was at or under 2; we used it as a stroller for trips to the zoo. He's outgrown it now and also prefers to push himself. My one year old doesn't even fit in the Step 2 because he's so big for his age. The Crazy Coupe is good when they master self-propelled but is a real pain if you have to push it for them. At this point my oldest pushes my youngest in the Crazy Coupe or he drives himself around in it. Both are bulky as far as storage goes. Both of ours reside in the garage. Good luck.

We love both but the step 2 car has been the best purchase I ever made. Used every day.
