My husband and I have been trying for #2 since December with no luck yet.... My period is very regular ranging from 26-28 days apart. Never late. Here's the thing. I was supposed to start my period last Saturday (the 23rd). It hasn't started. I have taken 4 Preg tests (last one being today) All Negative. So now I am wondering.... could there be something wrong with my "girl Parts". Since my period is never late and I'm not pregnant, should I call the doctor? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thoughts?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for all your stories and advise. I started my period this morning so I am not PG. So much for being regular. At 34 you would think I had this thing figured out :). I really enjoyed reading everyone's posts. I can't believe how many of you had neg preg tests and you were actually Prego. So much for 99% accuracy. Thanks again everyone!

I thought I was pregnant last month. Like you I can usually set my clock by when my period is going to start. Last month it was at least 10 days late. Unfortunately I started. I am hoping that this will be the month!

Give it another few weeks this happened to me with my daughter. I got pregnant at the end of June, and did a pregnancy test (to supposedly confirm my suspicions) about the 9th of July no positive. July 15th I went to the OBGYN for them to test me no positive. It wasnt until I went back July 26th (I had to be pregnant too many symptoms) and then it was positive. I was about 5.5 weeks pregnant when I got confirmation. Just be patient and wait another couple weeks. Good luck!

I JUST WENT THROUGH THE SAME THING. LAST MONTH I HAD MY PERIOD COME IN 2 1/2 WEEKS INSTEAD OF 3 1/2 WEEKS. I DIDN'T NOTICE THOUGH UNTIL I THOUGHT I SHOULD BE STARTING SOON THIS MONTH AND CHECKED THE CALENDER TO ONLY SEE THAT AND THAT I WAS ALREADY ON MY 4TH WEEK. I TOOK 4 TEST, ALL NEGATIVE, AND FINALLY STARTED LATE, AROUND WEEK 5. MY FRIEND THAT USUALLY HAS HERS AT THE SAME TIME AS ME, HAD NOTICED I STARTED EARLY LAST MONTH-SHE WAS NORMAL TIME THEN, BUT STARTED A WEEK EARLY THIS MONTH. ANY KIND OF CHANGE OR STRESS MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE ON YOUR HORMONES. IF YOU DON'T GET IT 5 WEEKS AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR LAST CYCLE, GO TO THE DOCTOR. YOU MAY BE PREGNATE.

I would go to your doctor to determine with them whether or not you are pregnant. i can personally tell you that i am 5 months pregnant now and my first 3 pregnancy test's came back negative up until i was about 2 1/2 weeks late. you just might not have enough of the hormones in your system to register on the home pregnancy test yet.

my friend went through the same thing. although she was not trying to get pregnant. she missed her period and 5 pregnancy tests said negative, when indeed she finally went to her doctor and found out she was preggors. i would go. just for a checkup, and test. they should be able to absolutely rule it out one way or another. maybe your pregnancy hormone that is supposed to be detected by those OTC tests isnt that strong right now. so it might not be picking it up ya know. but i would go to have the doc check it out. i hope everything goes well, and good luck!

E.,

With my 2nd child even though I knew that I was pregnant. No period for 2 months, sick as a dog. I kept getting negative pregnancy test. I had five done and all negative. Go to the doctor and have them due a blood test, for some reason some urine test don't show a pregnancy. She's 14 now and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I was pregnant. You might just be a little to early for the test to pick up the hormones.

Good luck to you and your husband and don't stress about it when the time is right you'll be pregnant.

E., I feel your pain. My husband and I tried to have a baby for over a year with no results.I thought there might be something wrong too. I have 2 uteruses and 2 cervixes, but have concived three times before.I thought that I would never have another baby. Then he got shipped off to Iraq and I lost 30 lbs and when he came home we were so focused on simply enjoying each other that I got pregnant within the first month of him being home. I think sometimes when we want something so badly we put alot of stress on our selves and our bodies react. So just relax and when the time is right you will be blessed with a bundle of joy.

I think you should definitely go to your doctor to make sure you aren't pregnant. I took 2 pregnancy tests that both came up negative...only to find out from my doctor a month later that I really was pregnant. If you aren't pregnant, your doctor can point you towards possibilities of things that could be causing your period to be late. For your sake, I hope you really are pregnant! =) Good luck with it! And always remember things happen all the time, even when you least expect it. My husband and I had stopped trying for number two when we ended up pregnant! Good luck!

Well here let me tell you a little about me... I was pregnant with my 1st daughter in about Jan 00 and for the whole 9 months they told me I wasnt pregnant, and that was even after 11 or so pregnancy test, urine and blood tests, they even did ultrasounds and they told me I wasnt pregnant, but I was certain that I was, so when I went into the docs the day i was having contractions they assumed it was stomach cramps, and lo and behold Stephanie..., then the same thing happened with Amber, but this time I was positively certain Considering I had gone through this before, and finally after 6 months I got a positive test, and to top it all of with my third one Jason I was 5 months pregnant with him before they got a positive test, but they were certain I was pregnant just by going by my word, and they actually found him on the ultrasound, so basically you never can be for sure, just be presistant with the tests, and I wish you luck.

a lot of things can make your period late. stress is usually the cause. trying for a baby can cause a lot of stress believe me. when me and my husband were trying for my daughter my period was late a few times. it just seemed like it would never happen for us! when after a year of trying we finally just gave up! the next month i turned up pregnant!
if you think there may be something wrong try going to a doctor but i am sure you are fine. however, i will tell you when i was pregnant with my son i took 2 pregnancy tests and they both came up negative. i didn't find out i was pregnant until i went to the doctor and they did a blood test. so don't count out pregnancy just yet.

Let me tell you about my sister...... she was 3 months pregnant and every at home pregnancy test she took said "NO"...

If my sister even thinks she is pregnant she has to have blood drawn to find out for sure....

If you haven't started by Mon, Oct 2, I would go to the doctor and have the blood test to findout for sure.

I had the same problem. It all depends on when you ovulate. I ovulate a lot later in my period then most women. When the doctor estimated the due date it is off by 2 weeks according to the ultrasound for each of my pregnancies. I took a pregnancy test the day I missed my period and a week later and they both came out negative. I waited another week like the test said to do and then took another one. This test also came out negative. After 4 more days I took another test and it came out positive. Because I ovulate later in my cycle the hormones weren't strong enough to be predicted until later on. I would wait one to 2 more weeks and take the test again. If you still haven't had your period or test positive then I would consult an OBGYN. Do you feel like you are pregnant/ I know with my second pregnancy I knew I was pregnant before a test even showed it. I started to get a belly and just felt differently of course I got pregnant when my daughter was only 11 mths so this might have had something to do with my belly growing so quickly.

Have you been experiencing any stress lately? Sometimes stress can delay ovulation, therefore making your period "late." I would probably wait a few days, then take another test. Make sure to use your first morning urine for the test since it will have the highest level of HCG in it.

I highly recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler to women, especially those who of trying to conceive. It is an enlightening read.

Good luck to you!

You could be pregnant and it still be too early to tell. Your HCG levels could be on the low side. You need to go to your OB ASAP and have a blood HCG level ran. it is possible that you are getting false negetives. this can happen with a test that is expired, or if you are using any other urine besides your first morning urine. this is what i suggest. I assume you are taking prenatals, so if you are preggo, then your baby is getting what it needs from you. if you are not, start now. wait a few more days. buy a new batch of test and make sure to check the experation date. use only your first mornign urine to test. it is more concentrated. if the test comes back negetive and you are still not having a period. call and get an OB appt. you may, depending on your area and how busy your OB is, go ahead and call and schedule an appt now. It may take a few days to a week to get in. by that time you can retest or give your body time to make sure your AF is not coming.

Hi E.,
I would have the doctor give you a pregnancy test. I was 8 weeks pregnant and the 2 pregnancy tests I took came out negative. Sure enough - I was pregnant! I don't trust the at home tests!

First I'd like to say That I wish you the best of luck and hope baby #2 will be on the way soon! I can't say that I've experienced this, but I can say that sometimes those preg tests over the counter aren't reliable. I normally would go to my doctor and ask for a blood test. Having said this though, I would wait another week or two before I worry too much, you know how stress can play a factor- or, maybe you are pregnant but the tests can't pick up on it yet.. It's hard, but I think right now time is the answer. If no change in another week or two, go to your doctor and ask for a pregnancy test. I really hope your dreams come true! Good luck! :)

Hi E., My name is L. and actually i did experience something very similar to this. My husband and I decided back in January that we wanted to start trying to have a baby, our first, we tryed for 3 months and nothing happened but at the end of every month i was late on my period but all tests came up negative. I was getting very frustrated because my period was like clock work every 28 days on the dot. And i haven't been on any birth control for over 2 years. After trying every month and being late on my period but not being pregnant i decided to call my obgyn and make an appointment. She said everything was fine and my body was just responding to my stress and anxiousness to get pregnant and that's why i was late on my period. So my husband and i decided to stop trying and put our trust in god and 1 month later without even trying we were pregnant! I am now 25 weeks and very excited. So you see when you try too hard or stress too much your body does weird things. Give it a couple of weeks and then if you still have'nt started call your doctor because there is still a risk of a tubal pregnancy you won't get your period, and you won't show up positive on a pregnancy test. But don't worry i'm sure you body's just being funny!! Good Luck and God Bless........L. M.
