Late Period, Negative Preg Test

Hello again everyone.
I have a question I hope someone can give me some suggestions about. My period is 2 weeks late. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests, the most recent this am. Both negative. My last period was Feb 11. Other than it being late, I don't have any other symptoms. But when I was pregnant with my daughter, I had a symptom free pregnancy. The best thing, of course what my hopes are up about, would be that I am pregnant. I don't think I am, because it would be too good to be true. So, my questions would be what should I do. My fear of course is that something is wrong with me. With it being two weeks now, where do I go from here? do I wait a couple more weeks and see if it starts? Should I get a preg test from a Dr? Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated.

Just for alittle background, before getting preg with my dtr, I was on the pill for 10 yrs, As soon as I went off, I got preg. After she was about 6 months old, they started to be regular but the past couple months have spread out from 28 days to an avg of 33.

Also, I am not under any stress or anything like that.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your support. I called my ObGyn and they suggested I wait another week, test again, then wait another week. If not started by 2 full cycles, then make an appt.

my sister had a "late" period and 2 negative pregnancy tests from the store. she has to confirm her pregnancies through a blood test. i would wait another week to see if you are just running late and if you don't start - then I would go to the doctor and get a blood test

I would go have a blood test done. A couple of the other moms are absolutely right in saying that your horomone may be too low for a home test to pick it up, and you are creating stress by wondering about what's going on. By getting the blood test, you'll know for sure and you won't be stressing whether or not you are pregnant.

there are alot of things that can affect your period, I would give it atleast another week before I went to a dr, there is a possibility that you didnt ovulate this month which in turn could mean no period, chances are that if a preg test came back neg that you arent pregnant. If you start to experience any pain in the abd be seen by a dr, you could possibly have an ectopic preg, but since the preg test came back neg, that risk is minimal

Hey sweetie, I would call your OBGYN doctor. It could be alot of things, from you being to newly pregnant to you just being late. The best advice that I have for you is to call the doctor and see what they say. It is always better safe than sorry when it comes to the chance of a little one.

I have heard of stranger things happening. I would go to the Dr immediately. Your hormone that the home pregnancy test detects might be too low, but high enough to stop your period. Go to the Dr and they can draw blood. That way they can detect even the low amounts of the pregnancy hormone.
Good Luck, hopefully your wishes will come true, but if they dont that just means it is not time for you now. God has a better plan.

Couple of things R., Nice to see you are wanting more children but be patient...God will deliver his blessing evenly.
Anxiety is a form or stress as well and can hold your eggs...which will not release your period
Have you change anything recently as far as exercising or dieting?
Are you Nursing your Daughter?
Because between my 1st and 2nd DD's i only had 1 period in a total of 15 months and nothing was wrong except for stress and anxiety all the time.
another thing what is your age? this may be a factor...
sweetie but everything said and done take a blood test and check for pregnancy yes but also check your thyroid and stress level...you'd be amazed of what it reads!
Take care and have a great day! ~M.

I know most people would probably say wait a couple more weeks, but I know what that waiting is like, especially when you are wanting to be pregnant!! I would suggest you call your obgyn and don't ask but request they do a blood test. I had one done when I was in doubt and they know with in 24hrs! Then you can know for sure either way! Good luck!!

It could just be that your body was so use to the pill regulating your period that it can't figure it out on it's own. My sister had to take the pill from age 14 to regulate her cycle. You should probably see your doctor anyway, regardless if it's for a preg test, to start the pills again or to see if there really is something else wrong. If there is something wrong, the longer you wait, the worse it will be. Whatever the outcome at least you won't have to sit and wonder what the deal is. That in itself will add unneeded stress.

Go to a doctor's office or clinic and get a blood test done. They're relatively inexpensive (around $35 at a clinic last time I checked) and then you know for sure and aren't second guessing yourself every day. You could wait a couple more weeks, but if you're anything like me, it'll be occupying your mind all the time anyways. This way you can put your mind at rest, one way or the other, and you'll know for sure.

Last year I had this problem TWICE... for two whole months I didn't have my period and had negative Pregnancy Tests... The Doctor said that sometimes the body does that... But it SHOULDN'T go passed 60 days with out your period. If you don't get it in 60 day since your last call and make a doctor's appt.

Good Luck! I will be praying... I was excited too... I want one more...pref. a girl.

I would get a blood test done. If that comes up negative wait another week. With my first child, I knew that I was pregnant, but I didn't get a positive result until I was 13 days late. Even with a blood test at 9 days late, it came back negative because my HCG level was low. Part of it may be that your cycle isn't as regular as it was before. If it is further apart than before, your ovulation days are different and it may take longer for another cycle or pregnancy to show up. Good luck! M.

Hi R.!
Wow, that's funny that you are having that problem too. I just recently had the same thing happen to me. I too am a stay at home mom of a 19 month old daughter. I was 2 weeks late and had taken 2 preg tests and both were negative. I didn't want to go to the Dr. because I have no insurance. My new insurance doesn't kick in until the 1st. I just decided to wait and see what happend. Well this week, which is exactly one month after I was supose to start, I started. I never had a period last month. I would suggest getting a test at the Dr. office. Good luck!

Well I had some of the same problems i was late and the test said negative i took 5 at home pregnancy tests, two urine tests from the dr's office and a blood test and they all came out negative... i really thought i was dying i had headaches was lightheaded and dizzy all the time and finally about two months later i went to the hospital and they took a urine and blood test from me that came out negative also.. after 3 months of not gettig my period i went back to the dr to find out i was 14 weeks pregnant. and no one could give me a reason why this happened for 3 months and all these tests said i wasn't....
but there could be a number of reasons why you didn't get it yet from getting a cold to a cyst i would wait until next month to see if you get a period then waiting is the hardest part we all know that sometimes which isn't uncommon to miss a month at all and if you don't get one then, then go to the dr and see what is going on good luck !!!

Hi R.!
What a happy time in your life. You have a beautiful daughter and the possibility of being pregnant is always exciting. When I was pregnant with my son, I missed my period and did not think much of it because I was irregular to begin with. I was not having any pregnancy symptoms so I just waited it out for about a month. To ease my mind, I went to the store and bought a pregnancy test - both tests were negative. After that month passed, I still had not gotten my period so I went to the doctors office and he took a blood test. Sure enough - I was pregnant!! If you want to know for sure, I would suggest going to the doctor.

Best of Luck :)
