Ladybug First Birthday Party

I'm planning a ladybug theme for the big #1, but I have not been able to find supplies in any stores. There is some online, but by the time I pay shipping I have paid for my plates twice! And I'm really trying to go cheap. I finally got a red tablecloth and red plates, black napkins from the dollar store. I like the idea of drawing black dots on red balloons, and I found a cute idea for ladybug cupcakes.

Anyone have any other ideas? Or have you seen cute ladybug gear in stores? I am in MN, and we have lots of chains like Walgreens, Target, etc...

What can I do next?

I don't think I paid for shipping and I didn't order that much stuff because we kept it small. Great idea!

Are you doing it in your home? You can make really cute ladybugs with paper plates. Paint (spray, acrylic, water, tempera) the backside red and either paint the dots on or use a circle craft punch on black card stock and glue them on. Add antenna with black pipe cleaner. You can cut a triangle piece out from the bottom to look like the wings are parting. You get the picture. They're cute, and you can use different size paper plates to have them crawling the wall. If you google ladybug crafts, there are lots of other ideas, but my kids and I made these paper plate ones before. Good luck.

You could make place mats with a ladybug theme and either have people color them there or do it ahead of time and laminate them. Also have you tried googling the idea? That is how I find the best ideas. It is amazing to me how creative people can be! When it really comes down to it, all you need is cute stuff for the highchair and baby because those are the photos that will mean the most to you later. Have fun and try to enjoy the moment and not get too caught up in the details your baby will only be one once and before you know it they will be in middle school! :)

What a cute party! Rather than draw the dots, you can use the round Avery black labels.

You can make ladybug antennae for the guests. Made with a headband, pipe cleaners and Styrofoam balls.

You can serve drinks from watering cans.

Have a boatload of fun.
