Depending on the size of the tables and the party, you could easily make diaper cake centerpieces and used polka dot ribbon. Diaper cakes are easy to make - especially if you have one person to help - use rubber bands to hold the diapers in the pinwheel shape and then wrap with a polka dot ribbon. Make some large bows out of the same ribbon to decorate the cake. Costco often has a few colors of polka dot ribbon and one large spool is maybe 5.00. You can buy a box of costco diapers to go with or I often use target - buy in smaller amounts so I can use different size diapers for each tier. Good Luck!

www.twoelizabeths.com has a really cute polka dot line and they make a set that comes in a bucket with a changing table pad, bib, and other stuff I can't remember. That would be a cute centerpiece and could double as a gift for the mom to be! Good Luck

potted flowers. if you cant find them in poka dot pots buy some cheep terra cotta ones and paint them solid and add poka dots or simply tie with poka dot bows. BONUS if you are playing games they can be the prizes.

A dot can be used as a spot light or bubble... get regular baby decorations and put a dot behind them.
Or just take the theme to another level and just say "modern baby" and choose decorations that are not necessarily traditional. It sounds like a lot of fun to plan, but in the end it is all about the people invited because when everyone gets together they will have fun no matter how much time and energy you put into a specific theme or decorations. Your friend is so lucky to have you plan this for her!

My mother in law is using polka dot wrapping paper to cover the pots on small plants and tying with ribbon to keep it closed and add to the cuteness. Then she's puting them on cute cake plates with the party favors. This is for her daughters wedding but it would work for a baby shower. Also, you could go to Michaels or any craft store and make something with a polka dot stencil. Good luck and have fun.

As a centerpiece...a large, bunch of white balloons that you can apply colored circle stickers to. Or a large bunch of pink, blue, or yellow (pastel) colored balloons and apply white round stickers to.

Or a large bunch of white balloons with a small amount of pink blue or yellow balloons...that might look like polka dots.

If the baby room has multicolored polka dots or a single color, try to match those with sticker colors.

Maybe you can get polka dotted cotton material and make the napkins. If you can cut the fabric with a pinking shears, you won't even have to hem them. Or make the placemats from the dotted fabric and have a solid color napkin to match. Boy...POLKA DOTS ARE FUN!

You could cut circles out of construction paper in the colors of the polka dots in the nursery and attach them to wooden sticks and stand them out of a vase in the center of the table. or stick them into a long rectangluar vase with florists foam to create a linear look. I would vary the size of the circles and the heights that they stand to create a playfull look. Use the long wooden stir sticks for coffee and attach two pieces of paper cut in the same size circle back to back with the stick between.

Another option would be to get rubber balls in the same color as the polka dots and fill tall glass vases with them

The last time I was at a Party City, they had some polka dot themed plates, napkins, etc. I don't think they were necessarily in the baby shower section but you could definitely get those. Also, I'm not sure where you live but there is a party store in Ladera Ranch called Party Land and they also have polka dot themed items. ONe idea that has worked really well for many showers is a cookie tree centerpiece. I use a wire table top tree that is sold for Christmas (ornaments) or Easter (eggs) and hang individually wrapped large cookies from the tree with ribbon. Guest get to take cookies at the end as party favors and everyone LOVES the decorated tree. This allows endless possiblities. You could make or have made, cookies in any shape - baby carriage, baby shoe, onesie, baby bottle, circles, stars and have the icing be in polka dots. If you have the time, you can also have the baby's name or date of birth, or date of shower and mom's name put on the cookies - either on the cookie or on a cute tag or label on the packaging. Top the tree with cute baby rattles, shoes, toys and ribbon. It is so cute! Another idea is to get round paper (polka dots), add a cute sticker for decoration (the 3D ones of butterflies or baby things are the cutest) and have everyone write a wish for the baby on them. Place those on a tree structure for a centerpiece. Hope this helps a little. Good luck and have fun.

The thing that came to mind is flowers. I have seen flowers taht look like polka dots, they are small and round. like small mumms. If you have a bouquet of mainly white ones, and then a few colored ones, so they "pop". that might look like polks dots...

Have you seen those diaper cakes for baby showers? They can get kind of pricey but if you google diaper cake, many sites will come up and I bet you can find one with polka dot ribbon and the colors you're intersted in. They make a cute centerpiece.

I did a baby shower for my niece and used a polka dot with animals theme they had...very cute. Also, try Alin Party Supply...I think they have a web site so maybe you could order online if they aren't in your area. I seem to remember they had other styles that included polka dots.

I have the perfect centerpiece for you! Make a diaper cake. My sister did it for me, and she is not crafty AT ALL! It was the cutest, simplest thing. I loved it! All she did was bought disposable diapers in 1's and 2's (made 3 layers just like a wedding cake) by making the diapers in the shape of a circle/cake layer--use the bigger diapers for the bottom layer and even the middle layer. she then tied ribbon around the whole layer--the face of the layer and tied it in a bow. She also cut out a cardboard circle for the bottom to sit on--you could also buy one of these at Michaels the kind they use for cakes/cake decorating. Then she put a sweet old fashioned looking teddy bear on the top. I can send you a photo of it if you would like to better understand it. Just let me know. You could find darling polka dot ribbon (thick like 1 1/2 - 2 inches or so)anywhere! Walmart, Michaels, Beverlys, Joannes. Good luck! I have also seen it where you roll each and every diaper and tie it with a ribbon and group those together to form the layers, but imo that is too tedious, the diapers are then in a funky curled shape and you have to untie each diaper as you need them--not something a mom wants to be doing when she has a dirty little butt to change! And it doesnt look as elegant when you do it that way. I had my cake on my baby's dresser forever, i just pulled out a diaper as I needed them and the cake still was maintained for a while. Hope I make sense!

How about a polka dot cake? It could either be frosted with regular frosting or fondant.

I love all the ideas below. For centerpieces, you could do white vases and paint polka dots in your color scheme....or just tie polka dot ribbons. You could also do polka dot cupcakes using fondant icing cut outs.

Oh you should make your decorations.
Get those scissors that have a decorated edges and cut out circles in baby colors...Use card stock and write out or print out congratulations and baby shower things like that.
Make a center piece with polka dot paper on it.
i have some templates at home if you email me I can send you the templates for some cute tags and things.
Also get a cake covered in polka dots.
Get that really big circle confetti and spread that around the main table. You can make circle place mats for each guests. I can think of a million things if you give me a day.
