Know of a Good Book to Help Overcome Insecurities?
Do you know of a good book that helps you overcome insecurities? A book that helps with "not caring about what others think about you" and "how to be more secure with yourself."
Looking for recommendations.

For kids
The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin
by Joe Troiano
The story is about being different and how you should never judge a book by its cover. And it re-enforces how important it is that we recognizes the positive differences. It's sweet, fun and has a great lesson.

Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow is wonderful. It is a well-rounded book with insight to all parts of life. Very life-applicable and an easy read....especially with little ones running around.

I don't know if you are looking for something in the Christian arena, but I would highly recommend "The Search for Significance" and I think the author is Robert McGee, but not sure on that. It really helped me with some of these exact issues.

Hi Deanna,
You know, the book that helps me the most is the Bible...when I remind myself of what God truly thinks about me, that He loves me & created me to love Him, I find those nasty little insecurities running for cover everytime! My favorite book is John.
Hope this helps,
K. :o)

I am not a psychologist; however, I do not believe that it is a good book that you need, just a good mirror. Knowone no matter what they say or do can make you any better or worse. It is up to you to feel good about yourself. When you realize the feeling comes from you and not from others you will be amaazed at 1.How great you feel regardless of others opinions and 2. How silly you feel at how you worried about those who could care less about you. Trust me they lose no sleep wondering if you think more or less about them. A more important focus is to wonder what your kids feel about you and the example you set for them. Do you want them beholden to other peoples perceptions?

I don't know of a good book, but I do know of an AWESOME life-changing seminar that did this exact thing for me. It TOTALLY changed my life in every way possible, yet ironically the truth I walked away with was "I am worthy and lovable exactly the way I am right now." So the big change I found was to not change at all...hmmm.
I'd love to share more with you (or anyone else) who is interested, in fact, I'd love to pay for your first session ($50) for anyone who would like to do it. It is not a multi-level marketing thing, or a religious thing, or a new age thing. It is a life-changing "adventure" that is different for everyone who has done it.
PM me if interested. Here is the website: www.theroadadventure.com
ETA (Edited to Add): The Road Adventure is the cheapest seminar of its kind out there. Only $50 for Part I and $400 for Part 2.

If you're looking for something from the Christian perspective, Joyce Meyer's "Approval Addiction" is awesome.
