Just Relocated from California, Looking for OB-GYN
We just relocated to Rhode Island from California and I am 26 weeks pregnant with our second child. I want some input on recommendations for doctors. I feel a little lost at this point!

I go to Center for OB/GYN, there are located in Pawtucket close to Blackstone Blvd. I am not sure where in East Providence you live, but they are easy to get to. I see a midwife for my pregnancy, but I know they have four or five other female OB's. Everything is onsite, lab, ultra-sound tech, exam etc. They are affiliated with Women & Infants Hospital, which has an excellent reputation.

Where exactly in Rhode Island are you living? The adjustment from sunny California to cold New England is definately hard. I'm involved in a lot of playgroups and activities. Contact me if you are interested...K.

I also 2nd the Caring for Women practice, but I use Dr. Spurrell! He is awesome as well. I did see the woman Dr. once. I think her last name is Woodruff and she was great as well! I hate doctors overall, but I love the doctors and staff here! They truly have a caring nature, and also they have a practice of whoever follows you generally delivers you, none of that oncall rotation stuff like most of the other practices. Your Dr. has to like be away on vacation or something for someone else to deliver you. Each Dr delivers about 90% of their own patients babies. I also reccomend Kent County for delivery. Women ad Infants feels like a big baby factory. Plus, Kent just redid all of their postpartum rooms! flat screen tvs, hardwood floors, and much more!

Definatelyl to go BaySide OB-GYN an Plain Street in Providence. Mine there is Kathleen Bowling and she's tops. There are several in the practice that you'll rotate through so that you know them all. I absolutely loved all of them except for one. Several of the people who I work with also have the practice and cannot say enough about them.
Each doc has a couple of nurses assigned to them. They will call you back and take care of you in short order. They have it all undercontrol and will get you exactly what you need, with the appropriate amount of urgency that needs to be applied in the situation.
You always feel like a person that matters...because you do!

Hi T.,
I go to a group called Women's Care--I like the Providence branch best. Their number is ###-###-####. They have both midwives and doctors. I received prenatal care for both my boys from Women's Care and I have to say that all of the people that work there are fantastic. They are affiliated with Women & Infants' and I am sure for other hospitals as well. For doctors, I would recommend Dr. Medeiros (woman) or Dr. Clairborne (man). They are both fantastic...Dr. Clairborne is hilarious and very comforting. By the way, I also moved here from California (San Diego & San Francisco) in 2003 and am always looking for new pals, play dates, etc. I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 1 year old and we often host play groups at our home!
