What will you do TODAY that will set it apart from all the other days of the week?

For me, I got to take my baby to the library for reading time and to lunch at a little cafe.
We don't normally get to do this.
So fun!

What can I do next?

My 16 month old let me change her diaper without a fit/fight several times today (which never happens), she behaved at the store, and she sat in her seat for the entirety of lunch. She also ate all her breakfast. Good behavior from this one is like a little ray from heaven!

Also, found out the spinach dip I bought in the hopes that it was gluten free IS gluten free, so I'm going to pig out on spinach dip tonight when the kiddos are in bed. I can't wait. :) Drooling already...

Hi ML, my guy and I are struggling. Instead of the usual silent misery in the house, I've insisted if he wants to come home he needs to meet me out for a drink or a late supper. Maybe THERE instead of HERE we will be able to remember WHY WE'RE TOGETHER IN THE FIRST PLACE. Don't know if it will work.....but I will not have the usual thing anymore, it's not working.

:(

Our daughter's cat, who has been MIA for over a week, returned :) She just showed up crying at the door a few minutes ago.
We live out in the woods so we thought for sure a coyote had gotten her.

Today is an incredible day for me. My heart feels unlocked and open, and I am filled with gratitude. Externally, no shift. My house is a mess, as usual. My children are 3 and 4 and filled with joy and mischief. My husband is at work and will be gone until late.

And I feel completely full and overflowing with Love. ;-)

Enjoy your time out! It sounds lovely!

The cat sliced open my toes today. The big toe and the little toe right next to it. Like really sliced open, flapping skin that needs to be pinched together style.

The cats were up on my husband's desk mucking about with the blinds, which they've already broken once, and I scared the crud out of them when I lept into the room and boomed "GET THE FRICKITY FRACK DOWN FROM THERE YOU FURBAGS!!"

Angus, the larger of the two animals, landed heavily on my foot with his back claws and in his attempt to scrabble away from the room he sliced me up pretty dang good.

Today I hate cats.
Yesterday they were fluffy happy things, but today they are... not.
Tomorrow, who knows.

I had chores that needed doing but now I'm sitting here with my foot elevated trying not to bleed through my third set of bandaids. Foot wounds are the worst; only second to hand wounds. My husband's worried that I'm going to need stitches but I told him I'll be fine as long as I can stay off my foot long enough for the liquid skin stuff to bond my flesh flaps back together. It's hard to stay off your foot when you have a four year old but oh man, she LOVES that I'm wounded.

She thrives on trauma and brought her doctor kit into my room to take my foot's pulse. She wanted to swap my bandaids but I wasn't ready to have the wounds traumatized any further, however I did let her carry the nasty bloody ones to the trash and toss them which she enjoyed. Then I made her wash her hands.

Barbie? My Little Pony? No thank you mother, please let me play with your bloody foot strips. /facepalm

Then she donned her bike helmet, crafted a tinker toy "sword" and stood guard at my door to hiss at the cats if they tried to come into my room. My commando kid. What a sweetheart.

She got bored in five minutes after the cats were a no show and turned her sword into a swirly fan that she tried to fan me with but sticks flew off of it and hit me in the cheek so I told her no more fan please, mommy was wounded enough.

And this is what set today apart from all other days. This was the day mommy's foot leaked blood. It was educational and entertaining! Except that she wanted to remove the band-aids every five minutes to look at the wound again. That I could have done without.

Today is the day I found out my most recent 'college' son's university is evacuating students due to the 'storm' coming up the coast...LOL

We just 'dropped' him off saturday (five hours away)...got him all settled with food etc in his apartment...looking forward to 'meal plan' kicking in tomorrow...

And now...evacuating...GEESH! !lol

Since the earth quake...and NOW this...I am expecting a plague of locust...and 'fire' from the skies!!

Pestilence (sp?) anyone?

Today, I bought pop tarts! lol I NEVER DO THAT. My daughter is starting first grade tomorrow, and I want to give her a special breakfast. Every time we're at the grocery, she asks for them and I always say no. I want tomorrow to be a great day, so we're starting it off right!

Nothing really, today was a lot like yesterday which was a lot like the day before. And tomorrow will probably bring a lot of what today did. But that's not a bad thing, my family is healthy, employed, happy. I can handle today because tomorrow might bring bad news, or good news. But either way I can handle more of today.

Glad you had a good day. :)
Mine was busy! Preparing for a 3 day weekend this weekend, going to Atlanta to visit family. I did monster loads of laundry and packed the 3 of us (husband can do his own), took eldest to preschool, took youngest to the pediatrician, came home to straighten up, feed youngest lunch, play, and put him down for a nap. Hurried to get ready for a job interview (I have a part time one, but I know I can do better), my friend came to hang at my house while baby slept, I rocked the interview, came home to cook dinner, picked up son from preschool, got an oil change and filled car with gas, went to the bank, swung by the doctor to pick up the requested shot records, but before coming home for dinner and straightening the house, I surprised the boys: we made a stop and all 3 of us shared a brownie sundae and we ate it outside in the nice cool 80-something weather. Ahhhh! That never happens, but it was really nice for all 3 of us. My youngest did a little dance, and we clapped the beat so he could show off for us. My eldest discussed that he "did not realize" how much I do for him. I asked him what he was talking about, and he just shrugged and said "some moms don't do everything". (Must be watching/talking about stuff at preschool?)Well, how is that not gonna rock my world? Home for dinner that noone fought with me to eat, and about to go straighten the rest of the house and get the nighttime routine going. (Right now the boys are walking the block with daddy and catching up on their day). Somehow in all this, I still had time sporadically for mamapedia. That's funny. But the time with my boys over ice cream was pretty cool today. I'm not so tired anymore.

How wonderful! :) There's absolutely nothing better in the world than some one-on-one time with a child, a spouse, a sibling or a friend. I think we'd all be much happier people if we learnt to prioritise these special moments. On our death beds I'm sure these are the memories that will sustain us and we won't care a bit if our home is spotless or not! May you all keep making happy memories one day at the time! :)
