So I was making navy bean soup the other day and I thought ' you know what would go good with this? Corn bread twist." You know the ones by Pilsbury. Unfortunatly they stopped making them several years ago. I also miss O'boise Potatoe chips by keebler. I also miss a foods they still make but I can't get. Like Elios frozen pizza. They don't sell them in Indiana. Also there was this pizza shop in MA that I use to go to all the time called Paramont. I use to order from them all the time, and miss them now that I moved. I can't find a single pizza place in IN that puts fresh garlic on the pizza. What foods do you miss? oh I thought of another one. The awsome blossom at chilli's. It is just like a bloomin onion at outback, but alot easier for me to obtain. I also miss chi chi's. Especially their lobster enchaladas.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Jo w: I have made pizza from scratch it is not the same. I have also tried to make the cornbread twist (i made corn bread then added a little extra flour and corn meal to make the batter stiffer and more breadstick like ) but it wasn't even close. Maybe you can think of a recipe that is similar and PM, honestly I am not that great at things I have to bake and could use the help!

Jane K. I have good news they still make the watchamacallit (sp?) bars. I see them at Walmart. Maybe they just sell them in your area, but they are still out there and yes they are good!

From the early 1980's - Crunchy chocolate chip breakfast bar by Carnation - I still crave it! It was crunchy - I hate all of the chewy granola bars.

I miss Pizza Shuttle from my college days in Stillwater Oklahoma. They had a fire or something and closed. I could order a pizza with garlic butter sauce instead of a tomato sauce, add pork sausage, onions, bell peppers, and sometimes mushrooms and only pay about $4.00 for it, plus they delivered. It was a while back but it was such good pizza.

Ok...
From my home town a Diner called Chucks, and a Mexican fast food place calls Aldalberto's (not Alberto's....there's a difference!).
Food from the original A&W in Lodi, Ca.
Jolt Cola, it's still out there but hard to find.
We don't have and have never had (as far as I can remember) a ChiChi's, but we used to find a ChiChi's brand shredded chicken bowl for tacos, and that had the best flavor. My aunt from IN is the one who told us they were a restaraunt.
I can't remember the brand but as a kid they used to have these soft gingerbread icecream men.
The things I found recently that I hadn't seen since I was a kid...Mellow Yellow Soda and a certain brand of stir fry noodles to make at home.
Some things you just can't make at home, it will never taste the same as the real version of it.

When I was a kid I remember my mom buying frozen Morton honey buns. I have never found anything quite like them.

I'm sure there have been a lot more foods since then that have come and gone but nothing quite like those honey buns!

My husband's favorite drink is Moxie, a soda that you can find in parts of New England but mostly just in Maine. We're in New York and anytime anyone goes to Maine he sends them money to pick up a fridge pack of Moxie. :)

When I was 5, we moved a couple of blocks from Fair Park in Dallas. Next door to my dad's shop (we lived in the back two rooms) was Pop's. I have never had a burger since as good as his. My great-grandfather also lived with us. We would walk to the store about once a week to get Dr. Peppers and Fig Newtows. I was addicted to DP. But I have since stopped drinking them, but always want one.
We used to have a Magic Pan in Dallas. Before it closed, they discontinued their Chicken Elegante crepe. I would love to have one of those! I have tried to make them but can't get it right. Anyone have a good recipe for it?

O. thing I really miss is International Teas by General Foods. You know how they make the International Coffees, like Swiss Mocha, etc? Well for a sadly, too short period of time, they had International Teas. SO yummy and I cannot find them anywhere any longer. :(

I miss being able to eat candy bar after candy bar and not gaining a pound.
And eating all the pizza I wanted and not having to buy bigger jeans.

Ah the life of a college student.

But other than that, I can't think of any foods/products that they don't make anymore. I do wish that they sold Tagalongs (girl scout cookies) at the grocery store. Although, if they did, I'd likely be a size or two larger than I am.

@ VM - I buy salt & vinegar potato chips all the time. Can you not find them at your local grocery store? Lays Kettle brand is my favorite.

My absolute favorite cereal when I was really young (around 1986) was Cracklin' Oat Bran. It was most likely terrible for you, but it tasted wonderful. I bought a box about 10 years ago and it didn't taste anything like I remembered. Boo.
There was a restaurant in my town that used to make the most awesome mango daiquiris. They were on their happy hour menu and they were perfect. It was also nice that the restaurant didn't mind that I was the slightest bit underage at the time I fell in love with these drinks :)
Fun question.

I don't miss anything. If I like it I will make it. Yeah it is easier to make packaged stuff but everything you listed can be made from scratch.

Every now and then someone mentions something I haven't had in forever like yesterday we made apple crisp but then I just make it.

Like the cornbread twists, make muffin dough but replace some of the flour with cornmeal. Roll, cut and twist.

Taco Bell used to have a menu item in the eighties called a taco lite. It was a regular taco but the shell was that deep fried shell (like the edible taco salad bowl) Wow. It was so good. They said they took it away because the name implied it was healthier than it actually was. Then call it taco crunch, taco crisp or taco fat a$$ for all I care, but bring back my taco!!! LOL
