Ehem...besides the obvious....

What are you planning on getting/doing for the hubs/significant other?

Any good ideas out there?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Big range here. I had an idea of what to do but hubs told me he has plans for us this weekend...which surprised me because he doesn't usually make the plans.

Probably a large bottle of Bombay Sapphire, and I promise I won't suffocate him while he's sleeping.

We don't go out of our way to celebrate on any "Hallmark" day, Birthday, etc.

We do things throughout the year as we see the need or desire to do something for each other.

We do go to dinner for Valentine's but not on Valentine's Day because of all the hype. Typically, the restaurants are overcrowded, service and food are not the quality as expected.

We do belong to a very nice country club and they have special steak night on Saturday nights with top notch steaks. We do enjoy fine wine and dining and we frequent the club on Saturday nights. We will be there again this week meeting friends and having our Allen Brothers steaks as we usually do on Sat night... boring huh!

I did have a friend once go way out for her then fiancé. He worked in a very nice office building in Dallas and a high end hotel was on the same campus across from his office. She had binoculars delivered to his office and told him where to look at a certain time. When he did.... he saw her in all her glory with sexy lingerie and he was over there within minutes for a long lunch.

Pinterest has a lot of good ideas, many DIY that are naughty and nice.

Enjoy your day!!

We normally celebrate as a family...but my daughter and I HOPE to be on the road to SC to meet a new baby...as long as the storm doesn't do what they say it's going to.

So my husband will get a card. All 3 of our kids are getting new books, a few small pieces of candy, and a card.

We don't "celebrate" Valentine's day...we MIGHT exchange cards - but overall? It's a "Hallmark" Holiday and I would prefer to make "every day" Valentine's day with my husband rather than just once a year...that means making his coffee and his lunch for work, dropping a note in telling him how much I love and appreciate him...

Sorry can't be of more help to you!!

Love Theresa's answer below!

I'm making my husband a homemade goofy card referencing our family in-jokes. Nothing elaborate, scrapbooking/cardmaking mamas, just goofy! He's out all Valentine's evening setting up for a huge event at school (well, he didn't schedule the setup, so no blame on him!), I'm out early evening hauling our child to dance....we may not even see each other before 10 p.m. if we're lucky! But after 21 years we're OK with that--I'd rather make him laugh than anything else.

I'll just cook a special dinner (haven't decided what yet) and stock the fridge with beer. I would have liked to have booked a couples massage, but there was no time.

We usually exchange cards and maybe have a nice dinner at home.

With the freaky weather we've had here in Georgia, a lot of people in our state are without electricity. Not sure what we'll be doing tomorrow night.

A couple bottles of good craft beer and a Bounty Bar, which he loves. I only buy him consumables any more--my gift to me, I don't have to dust them!.

For hubby-
-a homemade funny card
-bottle of his favorite wine
-make a meaty meal for all of us to enjoy
-stock the fridge with his fave brew
-some chocolates
-a short poem penned by his truly (heh heh)
-I'll sneak some little snacks into his lunch for work
-greet him with a hug & a kiss when he gets home
The kids get stuff, too, of course but this question was about hubby.

Yes! Please visit dating divas.com, it is an incredible site.
They have cute "man" Valentine's Day cards.
I am giving my hubby small gifts each day.
Monday before work he received a Gala apple with a note, "You're the apple of my eye."
Tuesday before work I gave him Planter's heart healthy mix with a note, "I am nuts for you!"
Today I gave him sugar free Oreos with a note, "You are too sweet."
I am going to do bananas tomorrow and a real gift on Friday.
My hubby and I do nice things throughout each week/month but I enjoy celebrating our love during this time.
I just mailed Valentine's Day gifts to nieces and nephews today, what a nice surprise they will receive on Friday!
So please visit that Web site and come up with some unique, inexpensive ideas.
Good luck on your search!

Hubs asked for and received a set of spanners (wrenches). Hey, whatever floats his boat. I think they were by husky, or snap on, so the packaging was red, if that matters.

When we were first together, I thought that his yen for tools was both weird and silly. Really, you need/want a circular saw, when we live in a 1 bed apt in NYC? Really? Just what will you be sawing, hewing, whatever.

A sage girlfriend helped me see the plus side to this madness. Tools would prove a good way for me to gift him well for years to come. Truer words were never spoken. She said, you make allowances for what you think are his frivolities, and he will find room for yours.

Best,
F. B.

I made him two home made crafts I saw online: a panty wreath and a framed picture that has the words to our wedding song in the shape of a tree.

Two nice bottles of wine (he's a bit of a wine snob, although they weren't terribly expensive). I'll make him and DD a nice prime rib dinner with all the trimmings - we really don't like going out on Valentine's Day. Dessert will be followed by "private" dessert after DD goes to bed.
