JFF: Are Your Kids "Bonnie & Clyde?"

I have 2 kids. Boy (5) and girl (8 years old).
They adore each other and are 2 peas in a pod.
But geez, they are like Bonnie & Clyde. And so... rascal. They always... have something up their sleeves.
They often... pair up and do things to me.
Thinking it is "funny."
Yah, give me shot of espresso.

So they are over-tired after school today.
I told them they have to nap today after school. They say okay.
Later, I tell them its time and go to nap.
They then... whisper to each other and SPLIT up in 2 different directions in the house.... and then hide!
They know I can't chase them both at the same time.
Drives me nuts!

Finally I caught my son... hiding under a desk.
Walked him to his bed.
Put him down.
Went and called my daughter. Found her.
Told her to lie down.
Then my son, again splits and runs away. Again.
They are both LAUGHING at me the whole time.
Ugh.
Finally, I get them to settle down.
This takes 1/2 hour of their escapades.
But.... they went to nap.
Just glad, they still do nap.
They are so active and need it.

I am sure, you all have Bonnie & Clyde kids too?
What is your day like?
JFF.

What can I do next?

I've just got Bonnie. And Bonnie's older, well behaved sister, who I feel really sorry for. My six year old is an angel when it comes to behavior, and always has been. Just a wonderfully well behaved child. The number two (my Bonnie) comes along and already has me pulling my hair out because I just don't know what to do with her and how, really, do you effectively discipline a very young child? I've tried everything.

And she's so...oh...I don't even know how to say it. Let's just say this...she learned how to say "I naughty" before she said "Mommy." And she'll point at the book she tore, say it, and smile her little angel smile at me. :)

Oh, yes. I have 2.5 year old twin boys, and the things they do make me scream sometimes! They totally plot against us, and I can't imagine what they'll do when older.

You are bringing back some fond memories for me! Although I am grown now, my brother and I used to do something similar to my mom. My mom was sort of a softie and unfortunately pretty ineffective at discipline. We had a very small house with one bathroom for my brother and I to share, and let me tell you my mom was a fan of the wooden spoon and the flyswatter. But when she got them out, my brother and I would split up and run around the house in different directions until we both evaded her and ended up in the guest bath and then we would lock the door on her. Keep in mind that both my brother and I were able to pick this lock at about age 8 but my mom did not have lock-picking skills. She would get so mad and threaten all sorts of things outside that door and then eventually tire out and we'd go out and apologize and then we would all go get shaved ice and talk about being good! It was fun and we all laugh about it now!
