Hi everyone. My grandmother who raised me recently passed away and left me her gorgeous wedding set. A few years back she had them cut off her fingers for surgery and now they need to be fixed. I also need the set appraised for insurance reasons. Any good places? I don't want to just give the rings over to anyone! Thanks, D.

The best jewelry store is Sam's Emporium on Exchange in Akron, my grandfather used to get my grandmothers jewelry there. It is a small store but very friendly. When my grandmother passed I was given her ruby & diamond ring. Well, early this summer a ruby cracked in half and a diamond fell out. I took it there and one of the guys looked at it and then shook his head and asked me why I ws still wearing a ring that was over 100 years old and in its original setting! I was amazed! They were even able to match the diamond cut to the original, back then not all diamonds were "cut" some were just chipped off a larger stone, that was how mine was. They are awesome!!!!

D.,
First off let me start by saying I'm sorry to hear about your grandmothers passing. I went through the same situation a few years ago with my grandmother. She left me her wedding set and I had to have it appraised. I always take my jewelery to Glen Fisher. They are wonderful and if you tell them you need them appraised for tax reasons they work with you to insure you get the best deal and they also do wonderful repair work. Below is the info you should need. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmothers passing. I would trust John Gassers and Sons in downtown Canton with any jewelry I have, or family jewelry. They have been an instution for longer than I even know. My grandfather purchased all my grandmothers jewelry there. They are a "high class" place, and I truly think their reputation would preceed itself. Good luck.

I have an excellent Jewlery Store in Canton Ohio. My wedding ring was my grandmothers and they had to rebuild the prongs and set the diamond and they did a great job. The store is called Brendan Diamonds and the manager there is named Eric and he is immensely helpful. It is located at exit 111 off of I-77 in the shopping center right there. They are great, I have all of my jewelry repaired and cleaned there.
