Is it still ok to have a IUD placed while you have your period? Thanks for the help. I'm getting the Mirena. Do you all like the Mirena? Thanks for all the info.

What can I do next?

I have the Mirena and yes I like it. They usually place it w/in 10 days of your period(according to my doc), not sure if it has to be while you're actually bleeding or not. I had cramping that first day (like light period cramps) and irregular periods for the first 6mo or so. I think it's a great form of bc, it's simple and hassle-free. Good luck!

I think it was a requirement for Mirena to be placed while you are on your period. Of course, it's been over 2 years and I can't remember yesterday most of the time! By the way, I love Mirena, it's been great!

I just got the Mirena IUD about 2 months ago, and my doctor made me come in while I was on my period. From what I have found out from other women, you will have less cramping if you have it put in while on your period. Mine was put in on the first day of my period and I hardly had any cramping during it and none afterwards. Good luck.
