Is There a "Tummy Virus" Going Around?

Hi. I was wondering if there is a tummy virus going around now. If so, can you give me a heads up on what to expect? My son has a fever and is complaining about his stomach hurting. I too am having waves of nausea but no fever.
C.

What can I do next?

it is harsh and it can knock you down as long as a week. it is vomiting, fever, chills and the whole shebang!!! daughter jsut got over it and had to go to the ER because her fever was so high she almost fainted!!! keep an eye out for fever...if it gets to 102 or close to it bring him in to the hospital so he does not have the same probs my daughter did.

Oh yes! My 6 year old has been out of school since last Friday. She started with Bronchitis then moved on to the virus. Fever of 103, even on meds! Lots of diarrhea and no appetite. She didnt have any vomiting though. Now my 2 yo is running fever and Im starting to feel a little sick. I hope it passes soon- this mommy really needs a break!!!

Yes, I think soo...my daughter had it, started vomiting early sun am and through out the day...fever later in the day. She slept most of the day (when she wasn't sick). Monday better, but very tired. Tuesday back to normal, except her stomach hurts, so not eating much, but playing etc. My sil got it and basically hers was teh same thing. My bil got it and a friend and her mom...so yes, I think it's going around. Knock wood - the rest of us hasn't gotten it!! :o)

Good luck!!

My 18 month old son has had some kind of tummy virus three times in a month (I don't know if it's the same one but we are scrubbing this house down). My husband & I got it this last time. We've all had vomiting first, then low grade fever(like two degrees high), then diarhea and gassy stomach. We only vomited for a day but remained nauseated and feverish for at least two days after.
Our dr. recommended lots of liquids (once we could keep them down) and then the BRAT (bananas, rice, apples, toast) diet for a few days.
Feel better.

My whole family had it last week. No one could keep anything down for about 24 hours, were still very nauseas for another 48. I called the ped at one point and she said half the metroplex seems to have it.

We just did lots of fluids (in small amounts), lots of rest and really bland food for a week.

Whatever it is, I have it right now!!! I haven't felt this bad since I was pregnant. :(

My 7 yo got it the night before Valentine's and missed her party at school. She was in the bathroom for 4 hours before she felt like it was 'safe' to return to bed. Usually, my husband and I don't get sick when she has stomach problems, but by that weekend we were both down. She got a touch of it again 2 weeks later but was over it within hours. We stuck to liquids and the BRAT diet when the liquids were staying down.

The rotavirus is making it's annual rounds right now. My oldest son and I have been sick since last Friday - vomiting, diahrrea, nausea - no fever - but we feel like a truck hit us. My youngest is sick also, but not as much vomiting for him probably because he had the rotavirus vaccination. I still feel dizzy and nauseated but I haven't thrown up since yesterday afternoon. It's just not fun! Good luck!
