I swear finding a really good iron is like finding a needle in a haystack. I've gone thru a few and can't seem to find a really good one. And buying one and ironing my clothes at home is much cheaper than bringing them to the cleaners. Especially when I'm home I know I have the time. So, any advice on a really good iron? Not a steamer an actual iron. I will spend no more than $100 unless its really really worth it. Thanks moms.
I agree not to go with one that has the Teflon coating. I tried one of those and hated it. I have a Rowenta and I love it. I've had it for about 8 or 9 years and it still works great, granted, I try not to do a lot of ironing.
ETA - I know it was a while back, but I think I only spent about $40 on my iron so you shouldn't have to spend a fortune to get a good one.
I've learned to NOT buy the ones with the teflon coating. It will eventually scratch, peel, burn etc.
The current iron we have is a Sunbeam with the stainless steel surface. I looked at it and couldn't find a model number, sorry. It does say Turbosteam on the side. But it has hundreds of tiny wholes on the ironing surface. It gets really hot and has lasted about three years so far. I think it cost about $50. It seems to be one of those items where you get what you pay for.
I'm sure people will rave about the Rowenta, but I had 3 in 2 years and they were all worthless. They would turn themselves off while I was ironing, WHILE IN USE. Wouldn't stay hot. And leak. Something about holding an electrical appliance in my hand while it's plugged in with water running down my hand made me a little nervous. I kept going back to my old Black and Decker. But I recently found DeLonghi? Or something like that. Found it at Bed Bath and Beyond when I was returning my third Rowenta! I've had it now a year and actually like it!
Addendum: My mother in law loves her Rowenta and as Julie, has had it several years. I wonder if, like everything else, the newer ones are not made as well? She was shocked to hear all the problems I've had.
I have a Sunbeam. It does have the teflon coating, and I haven't had any problem with it, but I can see how someone who irons a whole lot more than I would have issues with it.
It heats and steams and sprays....excellent heating.
