If you are near Beecaves and 360 I highly suggest El Sass Acadamy. My son went there for 2 years and it is set up similar to a school. They have art, PE, music, and then like a homeroom where they work on Alphabet and a few other things. I loved it. It was totally worth it. During the summer they even do Swimming lessons as part of the tuition. There are other location but not sure where.

Which school does your child track too? Barton Hills, Becker, Zilker, Pease, There a ton in South Austin. You must live in one of the zones.

You can actually go on a visit to your neighborhood school. Go by yourself first. I know at the elementary schools in our neighborhood, they have an information day once a month for parents. Then in the spring there will be AISD's kindergarten roundup when you go and actually sign up. Your child will have a chance to go and actually visit a kinder class.

Hi K.,

I also live in south Austin. My daughter went to Pease which is an excellent K-6 (100%) transfer school in central
Austin. It is very socio-economically and racially integrated, which is important to me. My husband is an employee at Eanes ISD, but I felt that the population there was too homogeneous.
My son went to Barton Hills K-6. Most kindergarten teachers are excellent anywhere you go.
Good Luck-I remember researching this extensively myself! :-)
