We are new to this area and are currently looking for a pre-school for my 3 year old daughter. I would love some recommendations for the Oak Park area, but I am willing to travel also. Thank you so much for all your help.

What can I do next?

We are very happy at Westminster Presbyterian preschool--my 6 year old was there for three years, and my 4 year old is now finishing up her last year there. I know that the preschool at St. Max's church, Kolbe's Corner, also is very good. Both are developmental preschools.

My son went to Westminster Presbyterian preschool & we loved it. My youngest will also go there if we still live n the area. I highly recommend it. I've heard good things about Horizon Hills & Notre Dame too.

Hi S.,

Welcome to Oak Park! We have a wonderful preschool right here in town. It's called Oak Park Neighborhood School (not to be confused with Oak Park Comm. Center Preschool). It's on the corner of Kanan and Churchwood on the campus of Oak Hills elementary school.

The school follows the Reggio Emilia philosophy (you can learn about it online) which encourages children to ask questions, think and find out answers to questions through guided exploration. We are really happy with the program.

If you want to learn more about the preschool, I'd be happy to tell you more. School starts next Tuesday if you want to come and visit the school.

Good Luck!
M.

My kids went to Westminster Presbyterian also. The director's name is Judy. I actually worked there for a short time before I had kids. I love the program and the teachers are excellent. St. Max is good too. The director, Paula, used to be at Westminster.

Good luck, J.

My kids also went to Horizon Hills. It was awesome. They just got a brand new playground the end of last year and my son all summer wanted to go to the park at his school. The teachers are the best around. It is afordable and the children thrive. We were in team class it was great. My youngest son started Kindergarten this year and I am bummed I will have no more kids at Horizon my older two are in high school but also went to Horizon for pre-school.They have classes from very young to 5+. If for some reason you are unable to work in the class once a week the park & recreation (Dover & Hendrix) also has an excellent pre-school program. Miss Kathy & Miss Koty are EXCELLENT. Good luck.

We loved Westminster Presbyterian in Westlake Village (corner of Agoura Road and Lakeview Canyon). Very compassionate, caring, great programs. You don't have to belong to the church to attend the preschool. Good luck!

Welcome! I just posted the following on another request asking about Preschools.

A friend of mine who lives in T.O. loves Horizon Hills. I don't know if Camarillo is too far for you, but we LOVE Mt. Cross Preschool. They came highly recommended by friends and I have never heard a bad story. The Director and the teachers are so very loving and believe in positive reinforcement. Each child can go at their own pace depending on their age, personality, abilities, etc. It's our second year and we just love them. Their teacher per student ratio is better than the other schools I looked into, and the rate is reasonable.
