Hello all!

I'm 30 weeks, expecting our first boy in August and have not been able to find a pediatrician yet. I live in Dallas, around 75/Lovers Lane area, would prefer a pedi not too far from our house, although i might consider other areas too if not extremely far away.

Here are some of the things I'm looking for:
- would support alternate/delayed vaccinations
- would support breastfeeding
- have separate well and sick waiting area
- have late hours/weekend hours
- accessible through the phone in case i have any questions
- genuine, caring, friendly personality would be a PLUS
- ease of making appointments, friendly office staff/nurse (my previous PCP office had a terrible staff and i always had to wait FOREVER on the phone to make an appointment. that's why i left her.)

I know that's a long list and i don't know if it's possible to find all criteria in one doctor so for now my PRIORITY is finding a pedi that would be OK with delayed vax.

Any help and insights would be much appreciated!

I love my pediatrician. Dr Christopher Straughn at Forest Lane Pediatrics out at Medical City Dallas but I think they meet all the requirements except for the vaccination schedule. They used to but ended up with too much grief so they don't do that anymore but they do take the time to go through everything. Worth a look if you don't find anything else that fits.

Forest Hills Pediatrics, female Dr's Wheelahan and Accordini. They are off Forest and I-75. Also a male Pediatrician, Dr. Fernandez, Walnut Hill between I-75 and Greenville Ave. Highly intelligent and professional, you can certainly trust both practices for all of your concerns.

Dr. Dan Nale & dr Al Karam - both great doctors. Work on park forest lane right next to medical city. Their office staff is great. What I like about them are several things - first, they follow their own patients in the hospital (so you aren't at the mercy of the hospitalist service; very important, especially if you go to medical city); they have actual RNs in their office, so your child won't be getting shots from & you won't be getting advice from someone who has only been thru a 6 week training course; it isn't a large practice, so you always see your pedi of choice unless you're admitted to thehospital, then you see whomever is on call.

They answer calls 24/7, have Saturday appointments, and have been very flexible with me (and I'm very demanding & impossible).

My ob uses them, one of my icu doctors uses them, both of our nurse practiciobers use them, and the majority of nurses from our unit use them.

Can't recommend them strongly enough.

I'll second Dr Straughn at Forest Lane Pediatrics. I interviewed Dr Blair when I was pregnant, but Dr Straughn came to the hospital, and we've just stuck with him. He's wonderful to work with! (And we've seen several doctors in that office, and they're all great!)

I love our pediatrician and her colleagues at Inwood Village Pediatrics. She truly supports breastfeeding, is fine with delayed vaccination schedules, open, progressive, etc. And is located on Lovers Lane and Inwood so very close. I am not sure about the hours but their office is very accommodating. Their phone no is ###-###-####. Hope that helps.

I third Dr Straughn at Forest Lane Pediatrics. He's very sweet. My boys are comfortable with him. He has kids of his own ( 4 young boys) so he's in the thick of it, too and can relate. He and his nurses will email you answers to questions you have. Separate waiting areas. Saturday hours.

I love our pediatrician, Dr. Joe Neely ###-###-####). He is located at 8325 Walnut Hill across from Texas Presby. They have late hours and Saturday half day hours. I have called on numerous occasions at last minute for an appt for my daughter and even though I didn't always see my own pediatrician, the other doctors are just as great and for me all I cared about was getting her in at the last minute when she was sick.

I have a lot of friends who use the same doctor or a doctor in that same group and it was just a coincidence that we all had the same pediatrician.

Good luck!
