I've never heard of the salvage grocery store before, but I shop at Aldi and save tons of money every month feeding a family of 5. You have to bring your own bags and a quarter to get a cart (you get your quarter back when you return it) Their food is very good and extremely cheep. Check it out, there is one at 16 and Dequindre I believe. Good luck!

The only salvage stores I have found are FAR. I would highly recommend Aldi. I do think they have the cheapest prices you will find. They do not have everything, but they do enough to meet the majority of your needs.

I'm not sure what you mean by salvage, but we've been going to Aldi's recently and like it a lot. Now they don't have everything, but what they have is good quality and excellent in price. We go there then on to Kroger's. We also frequent a local, smaller produce market and Trader Joe's and an American Bulk Foods store near us. We live at 8 Mile and I-94. the bulk food store is marvelous, though some of their prices on name brands aren't cheaper unless they're on a sale. The bulk items are at amazing prices sometimes. The more you go to these places, the more you know what to expect and what to watch for. Sam's Club and Costco are very helpful too but, again, you have to watch. Sometimes the price isn't the best. There's a new Super Walmart on Van Dyke around 15 Mile that has some good deals too. Good luck!

Hi S.! Have you ever tried Aldi? There's one on Vandyke between 14 & 15 mile. I feed 4 (2 of them teenage boys) for about 300-400 a month. I love their food and so does everyone I know that shops there. L.
