Check at the local Goodwill store for coveralls that may even still have the business or oil company logo. Yes, they will probably be in the Men's section, or just ask someone that works there. Most shops get their uniforms thru a service that cleans them, and they occasionally have to replace items....might check with them and see if you can get gently used items, or even loaners for the week.
Look for a tool box, or some folks are using the bags that look like a gym bag but heavier gauge ( Tractor Supply had some nice ones on sale recently or ck the website ) and you can use them in your car when it's over.
Find a well-worn ball cap, and if your hair is long enough, pull it thru the back in a ponytail.
Non-skid black or high-top leather shoes / boots.
Have fun !! my 2 & 4 yr old nephews love to go to the shop with me and watch the guys work !
( might even work on passing tools and fitting sockets on the right bolts....standard and metric ! )

mechanics dress in greasy gray jumpsuits but you could use a hunters cami one or orange one. use a hunting motif or jeeps trucks etc. god moves in mysterious ways and let them find the mystery animal crackers in the toy trucks. you could also use gummi worms/bears in the trucks by the end of the week they would know which vehicles to look in to find their treats. some cars without treats would make the game more fun . god hides us inhis loving arms too so remember lots of hugs when they find their vehicle treats. also a game of hide the ball under one of the vehicles (the clamshell game) where you roll them around and let them find which truck (the other two being cars) the ball is under . remember treats for everyone a plastic truck or jeep would be nice even for a baby.

Well, it looks like you have advice about the dress! As for activities, lots of interaction! If you have a wagon or something, taking the older babies on a "trip" is always a big hit. Otherwise, you really just want to be on the floor with them, reading books, singing songs, playing with their toys with them. I've been known to have two babies in my lap and one or two more crawling all over me as I sing or play with them. As you play, talk about Jesus and His love for them. Keep in mind that you will probably get sick of the activities, but they won't! Babies LOVE repetition because it gives them comfort and breeds recognition. And, recognition of things spiritual is something that you can't start too early!

Have fun!

Go on line to www.orientaltrading.com and check them out. They have lots of crafts and have a sectional for "inspirational" crafts. THey are very reasonable and diverse and you can get them shipped very quickly.

M.,
Glad to hear you are doing VBS!! We just finished ours at my church a week ago.
As far as How a Mechanic dress here are some ideas:
Get some old clothes that are comfortable,a ball cap on you head, stick a rag hanging out of your pocket, smudge a little greese on clothes and your face...You Got It!!!Ha!!! Other than that Watch Nascar Racing..they wear overalls/coveralls and run around with a gas can and tools in their hand.
One really quick idea I can think of doing would be to get a Black t- Shirt and use masking tape (stripe shirt into pattern of a checkered board) apply white paint to make checks around the sleeve or neckline or pocket ... making a little checkered flag looking print on the shirt. You could do the same with plain white T-Shirts, just use Black paint instead. Try it in green or red, too. Napa a parts store color is Cobalt Blue
--Hey Here's a idea....go ask the parts stores if they have any stickers that they would like to donate or banners or posters they were going to throw away. Damaged racing flags(anything)
HONEY BEG!!! Believe me It Works!!!!! I have gotten things that were headed to the trash and used it..and then sent them right along with all the other decorations ( Our church is Big on using and re-using stuff; as well as sharing with our neighbor/churches.)
M.,just walk in any parts store and tell them what you are doing and what you want it for ...usually places are tickled to help. Besides the worst thing they can say is "NO". No, never hurts when you didn't have NOTHING TO BEGIN WITH ANYWAY!!!HA!!!
I once had to do a decoration display about China for VBS. I thought" YIKES Please God HELP!!!" Then as I was sitting at my favorite Chinease resturant(That I have been to often through several years)..... "Hey, some of these things would be WONDERFUL for my display." I went to the waitress, and explained what & why. She smiled and said "Yes." I just giggled and said, "Thank you so very much" and walked out Smiling!!!!!! She( her name is Grace) would gather a few things and drop them off TO ME!!!! What A Blessing from the Lord these things were!!!!!! They were a Big Hit TOO!!!!
All I did was ASK!!!!! Ask, Seek, and Knock..Remember?
You can do it, Have a GREAT Vacation Bible School!!!! Yours in Christ,LaDonna

Mechanics wear coveralls! They are usually dark blue or if you don't have access to those you could wear overalls, I've seen mechanics wear overalls too. Also if you had a pair of dark work pants and a shirt with a name tag on it that would work.
