Halloween Costume for Pregnant Woman/Couple

Hello, ladies- I am asking you to put on your thinking caps and offer some suggestions for adult Halloween costumes that would be particularly clever for an obviously pregnant lady! By Halloween, I will be almost 8 month's along and we always have an adult-only Halloween party with some of my friends. Nothing too risque, but a little irreverent is OK. Also, I'd like to keep the cost down. I would LOVE it if there are some suggestions for an accompanying husband's costume. So far, the only thing I can think of is going as an apple and he as a worm (not sure he would be too keen on that!!)

Thanks, ladies!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you all for the great ideas!!! Now, my biggest problem is deciding what to choose! I appreciate all the help.

When I was 6 months pregnant, a friend painted my belly like a jack o lantern, I wore a button down (with most buttons undone) that I tied behind my back and draped a piece of ivy around my shoulders. I called myself "Mother Earth." Everyone loved it.

When I was pregnant I went as a nun and my husband went as the devil. We got a lot of laughs about it. We also thought since my husband has a pretty round belly, of dressing him as a woman and me as a man.

A friend who was 8 months pregnant at Halloween went as a mummy. Get it?! It was really funny. She did spooky face makeup and wrapped herself in toilet paper. Her belly was sticking out which was awesome but you could wrap it up and it would still be cute. Have fun!

How about going as an oven with a bun in the oven. You could use a box and draw on it or put aluminum foil to look like an oven. Your husband could go as a chef.

-Sunny side up egg and bacon
-Pregnant nun and priest
-Farmers and you "carry" a pumpkin. It's painted on your shirt to look like you're carrying it- or basketball players with ball or beach goers with beach ball
-Gypsy and tummy as crystal ball
-Bakers with "bun in the oven"
-Cats and tummy as fish bowl
-Sumo wrestlers

When I was pregnant, I went as a magic 8 ball. I wasn't keen on painting my belly, so I made a shirt. I just got a yard of white fabric from the store and a permanent marker. I took a long-sleeved black shirt and pinned a white cicle of fabric on my belly with an eight drawn on it.Then I cut out several triangles with the typical responses ("sources say no" "try again later" "It is certain" etc) and placed those on the back of the shirt. I wore black pants with it to work and I got a lot of laughs! Your husband could always go as a pool cue!

First thing I thought of when I read your post is a cow with utters where your lil' blessing is and your hubby could go as a farmer. BTW, I did a simple google search of Pregnant Halloween costumes and they are even catorgized by creative, cute, funny etc... here is a sample of what I found. :)

Hope these give you a few ideas...

For those of you who are proud of your bulging belly and want to show it off, here are some costumes that involve painting your bare belly and using it as an accessory. All of the following costumes will require you to cut a large hole in the front of your shirt that will let your beautiful belly pop out. You'll probably need help from someone else for the belly-painting (preferably a decent artist), and make sure that the paint is non-toxic before applying to your skin—no costume is worth harming yourself or your baby!

1. Classic Jack-o-Lantern—paint your belly orange with a classic smiling face. You can wear ordinary street clothes, or overalls with a flannel shirt and a straw hat.

2. Fish-Bowl—paint a fish and some bubbles on your belly, then wear a light blue or white outfit. (hubby could go as a fisherman)

3. Watermelon—paint stripes on your belly in 2 different shades of green to look like a watermelon, then dress like a farmer.(hubby could go as a farmer too)

4. Bun in the Oven—paint a loaf of bread on your belly and dress like a chef. (hubby could go as a chief chef or table)

5. Peek-a-Boo—if you know a really good artist, you could have them paint your belly to look like your baby is peeking out. Ordinary street clothes would work fine with this costume.

6. Crystal Ball—paint your belly white or light blue, and dress like a gypsy. (traveling salesman)

7. Pea Pod—paint your belly green, then wear all green and cut a vertical slit in your shirt to let your belly show through. (hubby could be a farmer)

8. Basketball—paint your belly orange with black stripes, and dress like a basketball player. (your hubby could be a referee)

Baseball player-your belly is the baseball and hubby could be a bat... look here for more info:
